    4K HDR Blue Rays are buggy on the Blue Ray app


    Series X can’t run Blue Ray disks natively so you need the app. The problem is the app was released in 2015 and hasn’t seen updates in a long time. In the app’s description it doesn’t even mention the new console generation. The list below includes some of the problems that happened to me. Feel free to add more.

    These issues happen when viewing 4K HDR Blue ray disks.

    Screen flashes black. Screen flashes black then completely goes black while audio is still playing. The Apps UI has very noticeable input lag. When running a 4K HDR movie and going to dashboard it’s very laggy. Raised blacks. Screen flicker. Audio cuts in and out.

    It seems to be a common problem with certain 4K UHD Blue Ray disks on the Xbox One and Series X.

    My Xbox One X refuses to play certain 4K UHD Blue Ray disks as well and I know it's not the disks that's causing the problem as they play on my stand alone 4K Blue Ray player.

    Also are all your Blue Rays legitimate copies for the correct region?

    Games are region free but Blue Ray films are region locked.

    The xbox one S runs games at 1080p, mostly, it will not run games at 4k, it will upscale and allow hdr if your tv does, also supports 4k blue ray and netflix.

    most games will run at 900p upwards and upscaled and run mostly at 30fps

    Do you know dear friend that your Blue Ray on S supports 4k UHD hdr 10 and Dolby vision? In most tests, it proves itself as a very good solution. Do you maybe have a malfunction with it?
