4K Flickering with Destiny

Xbox one s color 10 bit issues.

I have the same issue with my Samsung KS9090 + Xbox One S. When I play Destiny I notice screen flickering in the character screen- and only when I choose 4K+10Bit color. All the other games and HDR Blu Rays are running fine in 4K and HDR, except Destiny.

 

Xbox One S flickering in Destiny

Unfortunately the flickering came back in 4K & Destiny. I think it may have something to do with not quitting one guide/watch TV before starting Destiny? This really needs a fix. I even went out and bought a new Xbox One S and it does the same thing.

This isn't an issue we've seen many reports on at all. Can you tell us a bit more info? What brand of TV and Model number are you using? Are you using the HDMI cables that are included with the Xbox One S console? Do you see the issue with other games and
what troubleshooting steps have you tried?

Hello and Thanks for the Reply. I agree there are probably few reports on this issue. but for me it's been like this since I switched to the 4K console and TV setup. as a matter of fact, if I put the console to 1080p it does not do it. I have switched while
it was doing it and it stopped only to return right when switching back to 4K in the video output section. So, I know it only does this when playing the game in 4K and I only notice it in that game. I have noticed some screen tearing also in the game and also
on dashboard. I will report that with a video the next time it happens.

and I am using a Samsung 4K HDR UN55KS8500FXZA and The Launch Edition 2TB Console S with the HDMI that came with it. also, I am using a Xbox Elite Controller with the stock USB cord Plugged in most of the time. and all the steps I have tried are, playing
with every one of the video output settings options under the video fidelity and also the audio output by using only the tv speakers and using also using only tos-link digital out to a 5.1 pioneer xbox certified system that they sold for the 360 back in the
day, and also HDMI audio from xbox to tv then tos-link between the tv and pioneer system. and on the tv , I have tried using the game mode settings on the samsung's video settings and the stock settings. the TV firmware is always updated as it's always plugged
into the router and logs in when you turn it on and checks and updates on it's own. in other words, I have tried and tried everything to figure this out. I have tried another hi speed 4k HDMI cord and nothing had resolved it. now, I did see on that reddit
post that bungie was aware of this issue and others were also having it. also , sometimes when I quit out of the game when it's doing it and go and start it up again the flickering will kinda stop. it's something that is happening right when the game is launched
from a fresh boot up. even right when you get to the character sign in screen you can see the little white icon on the bottom left that shows the software version number for the game and it will be flickering and pulsating and I know it's going to do it .
so I just close the game out and select quit and then reload it and most the time it stops flickering so bad and I sign in and it won't do it that much, but still can be seen. but if you sign your character in while it's really flickering bad it will be really
bad in the game. so again, thanks for looking into this for me and if you need anymore info just let me know on here.

Sorry for the delay in the reply. From all the research we've done, it looks like the TV should support all HDR and 4K standards on the console. Since it's only happening in Destiny though, we'd suggest reaching out to Activision or Bungie support to get
their take on it. It could be a bug, but it doesn't look like this issue is stemming from the console, so it's best to look for a potential known issue with the game next. Activision Support and Bungie

It's very possible that 4K or upscaling isn't supported in the game and 1080p is the only option. Unless the TV is able to upscale it, which it looks like your TV is able to, but there may be something with the game specific that's causing this. They'll
be best to confirm any known issues though. This probably isn't the answer you were hoping for, but we at least know the issue shouldn't be with the TV or the console at this point.
