4K Blu Ray not playing

Tried to play my new Star Wars The Last Jedi 4K blu ray last night. My xbox one s just kept getting stuck and saying disc was not recognized. Anyone got any help or advice.

Important questions few have asked about XBOX ONE!

Re: X1 and PS4 both being "4k compatible," that does not mean they are 4k Blu-ray compatible, it just means that they can output 4k. So, in other words, there is still the possibility the X1 might only be able to upscale 1080p Blu-ray to 4K, and might not
be able to actually decode and output native 4K Blu-ray.

X1 can output in 4K in other scenarios, though.

Blu-ray error (0x91d7000a)

I'm having the same issue and I tried the above "fix" to no avail. After getting the message, the Blu-ray player loads the 4k Blu Ray in 1080 not 4K. I can play it in 1080 but not 4K

Hi,

You're not the only one. Seems quite a few people are having the same issue., on the One S and the One X.

Leave the disc in the drive

Press the Xbox button on the controller > go right to System > go down to 'Restart Console'

You should go through a restart with the Xbox logo. When you get to the dashboard, load the Blu-ray App. Does your disc play now?

Still no luck

I suspected you might still have issues with this. It actually took me three attempts after initially getting the disc to recognise before I could watch the film.

I tried two reboots with this disc in, nothing. After the second reboot, I removed the disc, then put it back in (planning for a third reboot) and suddenly it started up the BD Player and played the film. How odd.

It seems to be a very intermittent software issue.

xbox one "will" support 4k blu-rays in the future. They just haven't announced it when it will. So if you buy 4k blu ray movies they will not play yet on the xbox one. as with standard blu rays I find it only noticeable on larger blu ray tvs. I have
a 4k 70in tv, the only way I can currently see blu ray formatted shows is on the built in apps in the tv. Mainly Netflix.

The Blu-rays that say Mastered in 4K will have a better overall picture than those that aren't. I don't see that they cost anymore, at least from Amazon. Sony previously did this with a line of pristine masters of DVD's some years ago. Here is the marketing

Notice the "near 4K" phrase? In any case they should look better when played back on equipment that will utilize the high bitrate of the disc.
