4K Blu-Ray movies are juddering, freezing periodically

Dear Microsoft & Major "Larry Hryb" Nelson, what is the 4K HDMI cable for?

It doesn't for gaming. They are getting ready for 4K blu-ray movies would be my guess. Ghostbusters was re-release in 4K last year on blu ray.

Are specifically having this issue with the 4K Blue-Ray version of Oblivion as well? I saw that you mentioned 4K Blu-Rays worked before the update, did you set up your Xbox One S and try a 4K Blu-ray before updating?

Thanks for posting this up, are there any other Universal Studios 4K Blu-Ray movies that you can try out as well? In the meantime, please try uninstalling the Blu-Ray app, power cycle your Xbox One S console by holding the power button, and then reinstall
the Blu-Ray app.

So far I've only tried it with Star Trek (2009) and Independence Day, which I mentioned in the original post. I haven't heard of any similar issues from anyone else. I may have a defective unit. I may need to take it back, unless you've heard similar issues?

Oh, derp. I saw that but it definitely didn't register fully, sorry about that!

On your Xbox One console, try changing your resolution to 1080p. This setting won't affect content that has 4K capabilities as long as you have your console set to allow 4K and HDR, that only affects upscaling content.

Give that a try and see if you still experience the stuttering issue. Keep us posted!
