47” ED420VX Vizio tv won’t display Xbox

47” vizio 3d tv i recived from a friend who no longer wanted it won’t display my xbox one S. all the tv says is retreivng data then not suported. Ive tried switching cables and ports ive also hard reset my xbox and tried reseting my xbox resloution by
holding power and eject while starting up my xbox.the tv will play my nintendo switch just fine in the same port so im not sure what the issue is.

Try doing this

set Display Discovery to Disable & HDTV settings to 1080p

See if that gets your TV into 3D mode with the xbox connected.

 

Looking for a good HDTV

I currently have a 47" Vizio and it works very well for the price. My previous tv was a Philips seemed to have a video that I never noticed until I got a new tv. Your options are only limited by your budget.

Thanks for reaching out! I'm sorry to hear about the issue you may be having with the video output of the Xbox One S. Is there an error message on the screen when the Xbox is on?

I suggest to try the following troubleshooting article :
Troubleshooting a blank TV screen or monitor while your Xbox One is on and check that the HDMI cable is
connected to the "out to TV" port on the console.

When the xbox is plugged into another tv it displays fine and gives no error messages. When plugged into the tv in question the tv gives no error code but only says not supported as if it is inable to display what the xbox is putting out. Yet changing resolution
or refresh rate settings on the xbox has not change the result.

Thanks for the reply! At this point, if the console works perfect on another tv with no issues. The next thing is to troubleshoot the TV. I did find some information from
VIZIO support website.

"The cause of resolution not supported message on your TV has to do with the image size you are trying to put on the TV screen and your TV’s ability to accept and display that picture. VIZIO HDTV’s are compatible with many different
standard resolutions ( or picture sizes ). Each model may vary in its ability to display different image sizes. If you are seeing a
not supported message on your TV you will need to adjust the resolution ( or image size ) of the source picture i.e. DVD player, Xbox or cable box to fit on your HDTV. You would do that through the settings control of that device. Most common
resolutions will be 1920 x 1080 also known as 1080p. The second most common supported resolution would be 1280 x 720 or 720p. Please refer to your user’s manual for your supported resolutions."
