    Hey, potentially someone from microsoft can tell me why my 360 console is asking me to install an update when I start any game and then tells me the following error code which is not listed within the KB of microsoft and can also not be asked for in the
    official support area but only in this forum microsoft tells me?

    update error code:

    4497-0000-C000-0700-D005-1004

    I would be very glad to know what this error code means and how to fix it, as I have 3 xbox consoles and only this one has this problem and I do feel that microdoft may be the only one knowing what this error is about?

    From the first part of the code (4497) I can see that your console is on version

    17559, which is the most current update right now    . That's why it's unable to find any newer version (indicated by the 0000 in the next part).

    Is it possible that you have a 4GB Xbox 360 (to which you might have added a hard drive)?

    If so, it might be that the 4GB flash memory on the console became corrupted, and the checksum of the installed up-to-date system doesn't match the checksum of the un-corrupted system. So the console thinks a different, newer system is available and tries
    to update, but fails, as there is no newer update than 17559.

    Try the following:

    Turn the console off, and hold the bind button on the console (the small button next to the USB port flap or the small button next to the Memory Unit slots on older consoles). With this button held down, start the console. This should clear updates, and try
    to re-download an update.

    If necessary, try inserting an USB drive to the console and in the settings under Storage have it prepared for console storage (BEWARE! This will DELETE any data on the drive!!! So make sure the USB drive is empty or the data on it has been backed up!!!)

    Then return to the Storage screen and press the following button combination at the drive selection screen: LB RB X LB RB X

    Let the console do maintenance, and hopefully it can re-download the currently installed update and fix it.

    If that didn't work, I'm afraid you need to get a new console, as Microsoft can't service Xbox 360 consoles anymore for lack of spare consoles.
