When I try to download the system update to connect to Xbox Live, I get this status code. I have tried installing the update through a usb on my computer, reformatting everything, and clearing cache. The only other person I see with this problem has not
been answered. I have a 500GB hard drive, two 16GB flashdrives, and an 8GB xbox flashdrive.

I am having the same problem, which started 12/5. I've been in contact with Xbox, and they could not help me. They said that they were aware that others are having the same problem. I noticed a new update 12/11, which didn't work, but now I cannot use my
Xbox to play disc games anymore. I wish someone had an answer!

 

I have the same issue and error code. I have reset my network, factory reset Xbox 360 and cleared cache. I have downloaded the update to a USB also but it still doesn't work. Oh I have also removed my profiles on the system and now can't download the profiles
back because I have no connection to Xbox Live!

What is going on? Kids are about to get new games for xmas and Xbox doesn't work period.

Help us please!!

I have contacted support and they need to resolve the issue with the technicians help so I was told a fix should come this afternoon (1 pm PST).

I'll be getting an email when available and if it works I will let you all know and what you need to do.

 

I am having the same issue and it is incredibly frustrating. I've been working on a fix for the past 7+ hours. I am getting error 3F4B-42FE-1600-267F-C000-0185. My Xbox recognizes the network and internet, but it fails to connect to Xbox Live. I used the
chat support, called Microsoft, called my ISP, and even my modem manufacturer, but all to no avail. I attempted to update the software from a DVD and 2 separate USB flash drives. As a last ditch effort, I formatted my Xbox altogether and lost hundreds (if
not thousands) of hours worth of saved game files, and I'm STILL unable to update or connect to Xbox Live. Both my girlfriend and I have received games for Christmas that we cannot play. PLEASE HELP!!!

Sorry you're having so much trouble, especially around the holidays!

Do you have the Xbox 360 version with the internal 4GB flash memory? If so, does the unit show that storage as unformatted?

Another step to leave you with, try updating with a USB again, however, before updating this time:

• Turn your console on by holding down the small "sync" button on the front of your console (the one you use to connect controllers) and pressing the Power button. Keep holding the "Sync" button until the console is completely booted up.

• Go to the Settings section of your dashboard and select "System" and then "Storage"

• On your controller, press the following buttons one at a time: Left Bumper (LB), Right Bumper (RB), X, Left Bumper (LB), Right Bumper (RB), X.

• Clear your system cache at least 3 times

• Turn off your Xbox

• Remove any storage devices such as USB Drives, Memory Units, and any Internal/External HDDs.

• If you're using a wired connection, unplug your console's Ethernet cable. If wireless, turn off your router.



• Turn your console back on and try updating via USB

(If this won't work, turn your console back off, connect only the HDD and USB needed to update, and try again)

I believe I have the Xbox E. The model number is 1538. It does show the internal drive as unformatted. I tried formatting it, but that doesn't change it. It still says unformatted. It reads the HDD just fine. I formatted that one as well just to exhaust
all of my options, but no luck. I removed the HDD, all flash drives, and disconnected the ethernet cable before trying to format the internal storage, but that didn't help. It still says unformatted. With all of that removed still, I tried to update via USB
but I still got the 3F4B-42FE-1600-267F-C000-0185 error. Am I doing something wrong?

 

And I just tried to reconnect the ethernet cable and run the initial setup again after the format and multiple cache clear (the HDD is still removed), and this time I got update failed error 3F4B-0000-0080-0300-8007-045D.

 

Ah, I was afraid of that.

I'm afraid the "unformatted" error (where that storage cannot be formatted) is something you'll have to get fixed through the repair process.

Any fixes to this yet? We are having the same issue. Very frustrating at Christmas time!

 

I haven't heard of a fix yet and suggest others don't waste time by formatting etc as this is a XBOX Live issue on the XBOX Live server. I was last told they are working on a fix.

I have lost 10 days now as I can't use my profile or save any games what so ever.

 

I filed a complaint with BBB. There answer was its not under warranty anymore sorry about you luck but if you send it in we will fix it.
