$400 14 day minimum hold on bank account to replace a lemon

My Xbox turned out to be a lemon. After a month of light use, the only way to play games is to completly reset it every 3 days. To get a replacement you have to allow Microsoft to place a $400 hold against your account. Keep in mind I paid $225 total for
my xbox from Target. The nearest Microsoft store is 2 hours away so I can't take it there. The console then takes 7 to 10 days to get to you. They don't even rush ship it.

I could understand Microsoft chargining me if I never returned the Xbox, but it makes no sense to me that I need to front almost twice the price of the console to Microsoft. I would strongly suggest others not buy Microsoft products since they make it this
difficult to fix a problem.

First reports of DOA / broken Xbox One's surfacing?

After chatting with MS support my options are:
- Hope that asda have replacement stock
- Let microsoft put a hold of 500 quid on my bank account (dont have a credit card) and get a replacement in 3-5 days.
- Send off to microsoft for repair - 21 day turnaround.
- Get money back from asda and try and buy from somewhere else.

Advance replacement they send you a new console and then you ship the old one back in the box. It has a prepaid return label. But they will put a $499 hold on your account (plus all applicable taxes) and will charge you if the old console is not returned
within 14 days.

Good day its normally depended on your bank, for example I waited 14 days for my bank to release mine but this time frame is depended on your bank

Happened to my account today as well (same game even). If you call support they can put a hold on your account (25day minimum). They will refund your money within a few days but you will need to wait for access to your account until the investigation is
over. I am choosing the other route, I am going to my bank, starting a fraud inquiry and canceling my card. In the mean time change your account passwords and security questions.
