    4 years later and xbox one STILL not turning tv on and off


    For four years I have not been able to use the xbox one to turn the tv in my bedroom on and off. I have 3 xbox ones, one for each tv. The other 2 work fine.

    The one in my bedroom will change channels, control volume, mute... everything but turn the tv off and on. I discovered a thread from 4 years ago that was identical to this, but which was closed by a moderator 2 years ago without being resolved.

    I have tried manual entry of the model. I have tried deconnecting the hdmi cord. If this is just one of those things that happens with a "rushed to market" microsoft product could an admin at least respond that this is an issue with neither resolution
    nor plan for resolution?

    Xbox One turning off/on Xbox 360 when not connected.

    Are you sure it's the 360 console turning on/off and not just the TV? If it's the TV, it's probable that the IR blasting that your Xbox One is doing to turn off its connected TV is also reaching the second TV and turning that one on and off.

    Xbox One Turning TV On and Off?

    I own a Vizio HD tv that has/is been working fine for a year and a half. 2 months ago I got my Xbox One. I have it set up cable box to xbox to tv. I also use this tv as my main pc display : ). Occasionally now, after adding the xbox to tv, when I am on my
    pc input the tv powers down. I thought it was overheating or a driver issue on my pc's side. I finally decided to test if the xbox one was the issue by removing both HDMI cords from it. 2 days passed with no issues. Once reconnected though the issues came
    back. I then went into the xbox settings and made sure none of the toggles were on and that the tv was "NOT" being controlled by the xbox. Everything looked fine, yet the problem continues when I leave the HDMI cords connected.

    I do not know what is going on. Any and all help on this would be great. Thanks in advance.

    NOTE: I noticed even when the xbox one is not powered on I can still feel a bit of heat emanating from the top. Is this normal?

    Xbox On/ Xbox Turn Off does not power on off the television

    Just want to check on the status of the bug request. Almost one year later and xbox still can't turn tv on/off.

    I have the same problem.... When I say Xbox on (sometimes after 4 attempts) it turns TV on fine. But when I say Xbox turn off ..... it turns everything off apart from the TV? why?

    Silent so when you turn the tv off via the xbox the tv light goes off. the dvr light goes off and the ONE light goes off?

    And then simply saying XBOX ON it turns on then say tv on the tv and dvr turn on?

    Me too... but I having a bigger problem now with turning on my Xbox One with instant on and with TV turn on features. when everything is "off" TV and Xbox, I say "Xbox, ON" Xbox lights up but most times it keeps blinking and will not turn on my Samsung Smart
    TV and even the Kinect and Xbox won't boot up. I have to hard restart the Xbox but I still have to turn on my TV Manually, but when I do that and the Xbox calls for the TV to be Turned on it actually turns the TV off. I Never Had this Problem before.
