4 Headsets gone in a month

I have been using headsets to enhance my communication experience with video games for a long time. I have had headsets last me 2, 3, even 4 years before upgrading/replacing them. However, since I got my xbox one I have gone through 2 or 3 headsets EVERY
MONTH. The sound continues to play through the headphones, but the microphone ceases to work on every headset. I know how to take care of my things I am not abusing my headsets and I am the only one with access to them. I'm finally at my breaking point honestly
and on the verge of just selling my xbox with no intention of repurchasing the current console or any future gaming console from Microsoft. At first I actually believed that time had taken its toll on my headset, or perhaps I hadn't taken good enough care
of them. After having 4 brand new headsets short out on me this month when I know for certain I haven't abused them I am in serious doubt that the problem lies with me. Especially when I have been using the same headset on my PC for over 8 months now and it
still works 100% perfectly fine.

Has anyone else had similar problems? Is there a known problem with xbox/controllers or the official microsoft headset adapter(or cord) that is causing headsets to short out?

I've gone through at least 4 cheap @@@ headsets and am tired of paying for them anymore. Easily one of Microsoft's poorest and most non-quality products.

I seriously doubt that the console is breaking your headsets. More than likely you just need to do a power cycle of the console. Hold the power button on the console for 10 seconds until it shuts down.

 

Having actually tested the headsets out multiple times I've come to the conclusion that the problem is with the adapter. The cord that connects your headset to the adapter is the cord that is continuing to short out on me. I bought a new adapter today (my
3rd or 4th) and my headsets all work again. So i guess this is the cost of buying a headset that is not made specifically for the xbox one. you will have to replace your adapter regularly. At least I can stop throwing money out the window on headsets now.
Not that they are that much more expensive than the adapter anyways..

 

Glad you got it solved. I did want to mention that the newer controllers have a 3.5 mm jack built in so there is no need for an adapter.
