3TB Toshiba Stor.e Canvio not detected on my Xbox One.

Hello.

I recently purchased a
3TB Toshiba Stor.e Canvio External Hard drive for my Xbox with the intentions of using it for games and apps.

I've read a great many things about this hard drive, and how easy it is meant to be to use with Xbox One, where you can just plug it in and let Xbox do it's formatting thing and then play away.

Sadly... I've not been so lucky.

I plug it into my console while it's already on, but it's never detected no matter what I try (not even as a media device).

IF I try to start the console up while the device is connected, then the result is being stuck on the green screen for a long time before my Xbox One screen finally turns black. Funnily enough, I can still use Kinnect commands and the notifications show
up and such, but the actual console screen remains black unless I remove the external drive and restart the console by holding the power button for ten seconds or so.

I've tried the troubleshooting steps on Xbox's site where it instructs you to mess with the power settings if your console is set to instant on,
and I've tried all USB ports and such, but that hasn't worked either.

The hard drive is detected fine on my laptop, and I have tried formatting it between exfat and ntfs to see if that helps, but I have had no such luck with any of those approaches either when I try to plug it back into my Xbox.

I've tried accessing the hard drive (thinking maybe it simply wasn't auto detecting) by going into the settings, system and then the storage sections, but no luck there either.

I'd appreciate any assistance anyone could give.

External Storage

Here is a couple links to a 3TB portable to be moved around easier and a 3TB desktop which is more to be kept in one place, however they are more expensive than what my local Walmart store sells them for, so it would be best to do research to make sure you
get a good deal before jumping in.

The Desktop one requires an external outlet to power it and USB to connect it to the associated device, and the Connect II is powered by the USB port as well as connects to the USB port on your device meaning the Connect II is a little bit easier for being
portable.

UPDATE: I've recently purchased a brand new 3.0 USB cable for the hard drive as I've read elsewhere that it can fix the issue, and sadly that didn't work either.

I'm gonna try exchanging the hard drive for a brand new one. See if that works, but if anyone else has any other ideas, that'd still be appreciated in case the next one doesn't work.

 

I have the 4TB model and it works, try and sent it back for replacement

 

Returned the hard drive and brought a new different model and it worked straight away. Guessing the one I had was just faulty from the start.
