3TB Seagate external hard drive problems. help asap please?

So my console reads that its there, and after trying all the tricks, keeps doing the same thing, which is only showing it as a picture and video storage device, and I can't reformat it. I've tried on my PC, and it does the same thing. I've been trying for
hours to figure out what's wrong, and there's very little I found on this issue (1 other post), and NO answers or hints besides the "is it plugged in?" stuff.

External Hard drive won't work

I'm using a 3tb Seagate Backup plus external hard drive. It is formatted. When I plug it in I get the message, try another device. The hard drive is 3.0 usb and 3tb so it should work. Not sure what to do. Please help.

I'd go with Seagate. They're one of the better external hard drives imo. I have a 3TB Seagate and I love it.

 

Sorry to hear it. If neither the console nor the PC can see or access the hard drive then perhaps it's faulty. Have you tried returning it to the point of purchase or contacted the manufacturer?

 

On your Windows PC hook the drive up and then goto Control Panel - Administrator Tools - Computer Management - Storage

Remove Partition, Then redo Partition - Then Format to NTFS

Then Power off Xbox One fully - Unplug Power - Wait (I say 5 minutes) Boot Xbox One - Don't hookup external drive until Xbox One is fully booted - Then hook it up and wait a few - The One should ask if you want to format the drive as an Xbox One External
Drive.
