You selecting a us account doesn't affect the membership code redemption as they are only region locked via the account region

    Dlc is another matter entirely

Dlc is often restricted due to international laws and distribution rights

This is actually controlled by your ip

Meaning when your account region and actual region doesn't not match you will continue to have issues downloading content

This is why you don't make an out of region account

Since you don't live in an xbox live region you are limited

Actually hardware is completely different from online dlc

Hardware is limited by import laws meaning you are allowed physical disks without issue and any issue with disks disk based games are taken up with the retailer or your publisher

This does not mean you can ignore international laws concerning online content

Because you purchased a game out of region you made that mistake and there is no refunds

On the xbox box itself it says content and online availability is limited to supported regions

You incur the risks of importing and purchasing online games you aren't allowed to have

Often amazon and game stop will have a disclaimer this is only available to people with a physical address in the us

If you purchased it via the marketplace again you are actually have to take it up with the retailer

FYI you are beyond a 30 day return policy

And yes tomb raider is region locked and the only way to get it download wise legally is by being physically in the us

Vpn will only end in the dark side lol

    (Corrupt downloads)

  3. I SPECIFICALLY asked a microsoft rep about this.

    MULTIPLE times.

So which is it...do they not know the terms of their service.....or they dont care about their customers because hey they already have the money

So basically MS is saying sod off to me....is that correct...

I really am going to post the transcripts of my conversation with MS and see what other flippant responses I am going to get

anyhow I can see based on the last 2 responses that this issue is a lost cause on this forum......

It doesn't matter much if you pick aa region you don't live in you cannot change to a region and not physically live there and not have issues with region locks

The ip decides what is available to you

Xbox support doesn't have info on region locked games it is an actual case for the publishers

As they would only have access to the games info

They are for connectivity support and account and billing and live support

    Not for game support

From the sounds of it you either bought a wrong region code (canada or uk?)

Because invalid codes don't show up unless the account region and code regions are different for membership codes

Dlc codes will result in not available in your region

You might want to check with the e-tailer or Amazon marketplace where the code is for

Amazon marketplace tends to have 3rd party resellers

  5. GloriousNewt870, you misunderstood me. I wasn't suggesting you lied to anyone while trying to get things to work. I said that setting your region to one you are not in (which would be lying about where you are) will not circumvent regional lockouts.

You purchased several products that are not available for use in your country. You--not Microsoft--are responsible for making sure that you can use the items you decide to purchase even though you know that they are not technically supported.

No offense intended here but you are getting upset about something that is honestly your fault. You do not purchase something that is stated in plain language will not work in your country of origin. It's common sense.

You may post whatever chat transcripts you wish but that does not change the simple fact that Xbox LIVE is not supported in Barbados; as such you will not be able to redeem any codes or download any content from the servers.

    Have a good day.

At any rate the XBOS1005 error appeared when I tried to redeem my code on the XBOX SITE.....so whether the console was an xbox one or a 360 should not have mattered

And this was the third code that has not worked..I have seen other persons reporting similar issues about the XBOS1005 error and to this point I have not seen any definitive answer on the issue...

You were informed incorrectly. Barbados is not a country where Xbox LIVE is supported. The system is checking your physical location and since Barbados is a sovereign country and not part of the United States. You cannot just lie and say you are in the
US and expect it to work. You're trying to redeem a code for a product that is not technically sold in your country as such it would be against international import/export laws.

In short those codes will never work for you.
