  1. 3D Blu-ray PLayback issues

Attempting to play 3D movies on my Xbox One S has been very inconsistent these past 2 weeks. The first (and only movie) I had work is "Prometheus" which detected 3D and played flawlessly throughout. So tried "Gravity"....and no playback at all, I get a message
that its lost HDMI connection. Tried a few other movies and all the same. Tried Prometheus again, and yep it works. What gives? Appreciate any assistance you can provide.

    :)

    3D blu-ray

All Blu-ray players use software for playback. It is called firmware and generally is user updateable. The Xbox One is a proper Blu-ray player that has issues at the moment. Lip sync and no 3D playback among them.

    3D Blu-ray PLayback issues

Just got One S. Everything 3D movie I have tried causes apparent crash (lost HDMI connection). So far I have tried Prometheus and Predator 3D.

I have an LG OLED E6. PS3 plays both flawlessly.

Set your XBOX One S to 1080p and not 4K, it should work fine.

The XB is attempting to scale the image up to 4K, which makes it an invalid format.

To set your resolution to a lower resolution but switch to 4K when 4K content is played:

    1. Open the guide and go to Settings > All settings > Display & sound > Video output and then make sure TV resolution is set to 720p or 1080p.
    2. Select Advanced video settings and make sure Allow 4K is checked.

Thanks. I set output to 1080p and in advanced UNchecked Allow 4k. Keeping Allow 4K checked got me past the first 2 screen saying it was a 3D blu-ray, but then it would lose the HDMI signal before it could get to the disk's top menu.

I appreciate your help. In regards to the XBox one s pretty poor experience as a blu-ray player. Also when it did work seemed slower to get to the main menu than the PS3.

They really need to work on the app.

    Thanks again.

So I have found on my LG E6 that disabling HDMI Ultra HD Color on the HDMI [IE turn off HDR] 'fixes' the issue, but it is not really a fix to disable the feature.

Still convinced that this is a dashboard issue as even setting the TV to 4K with everything enabled and then switching down to 1080p doesn't work. You have to plug in a headset and use the audio to hear the menu selection changing to the 'Yes' option, when
you select that it then displays the dash fine, but otherwise it sits there on the confirm screen and times out.

Finally found a more stable solution - set your Xbox to output 24 bits per pixel [8 bit colour] as the colour depth, not 30 or 36, this seems to fix the issues with the xbox failing to step down from 4K to 1080p in the dash and the Blu Ray app when playing

I don't need to download an app to use my Blu-ray player and it updates its own firmware.

    3d blu ray support

The Xbox 360 doesn't play back 3D Blu-ray, which is what the discussion is about. It doesn't play Blu-ray at all. You can watch 3D through Netflix or cable on both machines. The 360 will play games in 3D but that isn't the same as disc playback.
