Same issue is happening with me. 3D isn't working since Cortana update. LG TV. Put in disc on my ps4 hooked up to the same TV and it plays in 3d just fine (tried with wreck it Ralph and peanuts movie). This means issue is with XB1.

Please fix! I'd much rather play my movies on my xbox one! Much nicer menu interface.

I posted another thread about this, but didn't see this one. I'm having the same issue, 3D works up in the previews and the menu, but turns off once you start the movie.

I have a Samsung TV, so it has nothing to do with LG TVs as somebody suggested. Also, original Xbox One here.

  3. Same Problem here, Panasonic TV. Used to work perfectly on my original Xbox One, now it just shows every movie in 2D.

3D Blu-ray movies no longer play in 3D mode

Update... I tried playing a 3D movie and like everyone else here, it's only playing in 2D. However, when I switch inputs on my TV to something else and then switch it back to the Xbox input, the 3D signal is picked up by my TV and the movie plays as it
    should -- in 3D.

    Hello,

I'm having 3D playback problems as well! I'm using an Xbox One S and 3D Blu-ray worked perfectly before the summer update! When I try to play 3D now its converted down to 2D, the play 3D check box in settings is now unchecked and when I try to switch it
back on the Xbox says the TV isn't 3D! To me, it looks like an HDMI handshaking issue which has been caused by the summer update. For information purposes I'm using an LG 4k 3D TV.

    Hello Mister Maka,

    My screen is a 1080p 120hz ViewSonic V3D245 (VS13777) 24" 3D PC monitor with audio output capability.

So far the only movies I tried were Brave 3D and Avatar 3D. I do have others I can try and will post my results as my time permits.

3D Blu-ray movies no longer play in 3D mode

    Hi Mister Maka,

My TV is an LG 4K UHD 3D 49inch screen, model no. 49UB850V. The 3D option has been switched off on my Xbox One S and when I try to switch it back on again I get a message saying that my TV is not 3D capable. 3D Blu-rays will play but the Xbox is converting
them to 2D and this is happening on all disc from Batman vs. Superman to older titles like Monsters vs. Aliens.

  9. I'm also encountering the same problem. I recently upgraded from an Xbox One to Xbox One S. On the Xbox One I watched many 3D Blu-rays and never had a problem. I tried to watch Zootopia 3D on my One S and the menu is 3D but the movie plays in 2D. I then
tried Edge of Tomorrow 3D (which I had previously watched in my old Xbox One) and it worked correctly. I have not tried other discs yet, but it appears some work while others don't. Changing settings on my Xbox or TV didn't make any difference, and my Xbox
One S says all video formats are supported by my system.

    Hi,

Same for me on original xbox one using a Sony 820 amp and Epsom tw9000 projector. Ps4 works fun, summer update seems to have broken something as everything was fine before.

Godzila and bvs work fine, anything disney or Marvel shows 3d menus and 2d films. Tried ant man, guardians of the galaxy, wreck it Ralph.

    Thanks

    Will

    Hey everyone!

Just wanted to drop in and say thanks a ton for the information on this. I've made sure to reach out to the appropriate team and we will be sure to reach out with additional information. In the mean time, if you haven't already tried the previously described
troubleshooting in this thread, please do so.

First uninstall the Blu-ray app, power cycle Xbox One (hold power button for 8-10 seconds until Xbox One powers off), and re-install Blu-ray app. If you manage to see any change after that please let us know, but we'll be sure to update you all when we have
    more information. Thanks!

Ok, I thought I had made a breakthrough but its only a partial one.

I have managed to get the 3D setting on my Xbox One S to switch back on by changing the connection type in advanced video settings from auto- detect to HDMI, this completely screws up the picture and switches off all the game and app settings. I then changed
the connection type back to auto-detect (picture improves) and switched on all the game and app check boxes and even the 3D engaged. You may need to check the other settings to get the picture back to optimum.

I then tried the Man of Steel 3D Blu-ray and crossed my fingers. The menu was 2D but the film played in 3D! I thought I had cracked it but I then tried Monsters vs. Aliens again and everything was 2D only. I'm still convinced its an HDMI handshaking issue.

Just for information, before I reset the HDMI connection I tried an experiment. I started streaming the Xbox to my Surface Pro 3 and disconnected the HDMI completely, I then tried to toggle on the 3D setting but it still came up saying that the TV was telling
it that it wasn't 3D capable! How could that be when it wasn't connected to the TV? Again I think this brings us back to HDMI as the culprit.

I hope this information is of some use

3D Blu-ray movies no longer play in 3D mode

    Mister Maka,

I can confirm that with the Twitter Xbox Support they had me uninstall the app, do a full shutdown and restart of the console. A re-install of the Bluray application and the behaviour was the same. They then asked me to contact the Xbox Support Team by phone
or chat, so I did that, took them through all the steps I had done and they asked me to do a factory reset (keeping games and apps), I did that, and the behaviour was the same in my case.

    Thanks.

I did a complete factory reset (keeping apps and games) as well as uninstalling the blu ray app. Didn't do a thing to improve it. Tried switching to HDMI manual instead of auto, switching 50hz on and off. Nothing works.

I think there is something fundamental in the summer update that has caused this as there are far too many people with the same issue for it just to be a glitch with the occasional xbox.

    Thanks

    Will
