Also, Sony has allowed many of thier most popular titles to be re-purchased on the PS4. So have Nintendo on the Wii. Thats the only reason I own a Wii so I could buy my childhood favorite Nintendo games. I probably have spent 400 dollars or more on games
I have boughted 3-4 times already because I wanted a digital format that I could keep forever.

I don't want to loose Super Mario Bros or Duck Hunt or Contra or Mike Tyson Punch out. Why doesn't MS understand I don't want to lose Halo and I am willing to re-buy it?

You can "re-purchase" games on the One too.

I still don't think you realize it isn't as simple as just copying the game over and putting it out there for the One. The game would have to be redeveloped due to its coding/programming.

I can't re-purchase any xbox 360 game that wasn't dual developed for both generations already. You are consistently wrong Egg.

Put it this way COD ghosts on the 360 is a mere 7.6GB in size and the Xbox one version is 42GB in size, the x1 version also uses part dedicated servers the 360 version does not, they use different codecs and different drivers, they have been programmed to
work differently to use the available memory and cpu/gpu architecture, if you could put the 360 version of ghosts in the x1 and run the game it would look absolutely shocking.

The size difference is purely graphical. The engine that runs the game is identical and is extremely similar to the origional COD engine from unreal. The servers are available for both consoles to use for cloud computing and I honestly don't care what the
coding is. It's time for MS to treat it's console gamers the same as they treat their PC gamers.

The hardware is no longer a restriction.

@Beetfarmer -- You 100% CAN re-purchase any game that was released on the 360 and the One. In fact, every game developer would LOVE it if you re-purchased all of their games on both systems.

    360/X1 Compatibility

I guess the OP isnt a business owner.

    1. You want developers to ditch making games for people who cant afford to upgrade? Why not just tell those developers to close their doors and look for employment at Wal-Mart? The install bass for XB1 is what 1/16 the size of 360. So it makes sense to dual
    develop games for both platforms.

    2. You cant play your old Halo games on XB1 because there is no backwards compatibility. You can Play Ghosts on both platforms because it was released for both platforms. But the way you describe it is like you can take your COD disc and put it in the XB1.

    3. MS has given away freebies to XB1 owners. If you didnt get it or missed out that sucks. But Ive got 2 complete seasons of tv shows and a movie from MS on my XB1 right now. And I missed a couple of the movies but whatever.

    4. Like Eggnogga(who hasnt been wrong in the thread) Im no CPU programmer but somethings just work differently. I have no clue why you can run new games on old PCs.

    5. Your arcade games dont work because they were made for 360 and not XB1. Developers would need to sit down rewrite the entire game and make it playable on XB1. And after they finish doing that they are going to charge you, because well its a business.
They dont work for free ya know?

    6. And what games on PS3 have been ported over to PS4? The Last of Us? God of War Ascension? Sony made those developers sit down and rewrite those two games to work on PS4. And Sony gamers are so desperate for a non indie title they will eat them up.

    7. Basically go and learn to speak Japanese and then book a trip to China and begin speaking in Japanese once you get there. Then you will understand the 360 and XB1 speak differently and only an emulator would make BC possible.

  9. @Beetfarmer89, you seem to be throwing back a lot of information presented to you indiscriminately as you have some preconceptions about this topic. For example the difference in size for the 360 vs. X1 version of Ghosts being "purely graphical". No it's
not, it's what you were told it was. It's coded for a more advanced system architecture. The Xbox 360 runs PowerPC, the Xbox One runs x86. Also, cloud servers are not available for the 360 as they are for the X1.

  10. I think the op 's main point is why did we she'll out so much for a new system when the games coming out are for 360 as well. Meaning what's the freakin point if they aren't putting out new games to the new systems full potential. Not that I don't want 360
to enjoy games just I wouldn't have bought a new system if Microsoft wasn't ready for it. Basically I feel cheated and have been patient enough and have been totally disgusted with xbox one. Slow downloads, lack of games, Titan fall no campaign, can't play
360 games, lack of arcade games being released and now demo, WHERE IS HBO GO?????????? Can't take it any more. I can't afford any of this anymore. I can't believe the demos now. I've played so many arcade game demos that lead me to buy the game. Really annoyed
this seems to stop and rather annoyed everyone just going along with everything like this is ok. It's not and the result is I'm being more turned away from xbox and my interest is fading. I guess I'm getting old.

This question has been answered numerous times already, so I won't revisit that. Instead, I ask you this; name a single one of the games I've listed above that allowed you to play Xbox against Xox 360?

All these games were the platinum hits series that MS made backwards compatable from the 360 to the Xbox.

Not a single person on this thread should be arguing with me.

Who here doesn't want backwards compatibility?

Who here doesn't want to play against players on 360 and the one together?

Who here doesn't want to see the X1 pushed to its limits with games developed for it like FM5?

Perhaps so, but I was only responding to the second paragraph of your post when you said "I don't remember any games being dual released on the original xbox and the xbox 360". Backwards compatible or not, these were all games you
could buy both an Xbox version of and an Xbox 360 version of.

I could answer your question as to why developers should make games for both platforms in two words, "installed base". When you already have 70 million+ consoles out there, that's hard to ignore.

Well, that's not really for you to determine. Is it? If someone is to offer a differing point of view, then it's not up to you to deny them that.

It's not about not wanting such things. We do want them. What people are trying to say is that there isn't an ability to provide them. There's a difference between what we want, and what we are able to get.

I will say that is supposedly something in the works that will allow you to download Xbox 360 games to the Xbox One. It's only a rumour right now, and details are scarce, but I'm sure we'll hear more later.

  14. @iFSU Beetfarmer"]

Do you understand the difference between X86 hardware and PPC? X86 hardware is what the Xbox One uses, it is also the architecture behind any Intel or AMD powered PC and the same hardware as Sony's PS4. PPC (PowerPC) is a different architecture from IBM.
PPC hardware powers the Xbox 360, PS3, Wii and Wii U.

So, why do some programs and games designed in Windows XP still work in Windows 8.1? Simple, the hardware architecture and instruction set is still the same. PC's have been X86 since the late 1980's. This is not the case for the Xbox 360 VS the Xbox One.
The ISA is completely different. These two machines don't speak the same language.

XBox One X and external drive

Yes that shouldn't be a problem
    How do we know that?

I mean, code from 360 is not compatible with X1 - is code hardware compatible for X1 and X1X?

For 360 you need to download completely new code and an emulator - how is it with BC for X1 and X1X running X1 games?

This is one of the big Q's if to get X1X for me.

Will it like PC have a X1 BC checkbox to be compatible with previosu OS?

For PC it is a checkbox for Windows 8 compatibilty, or XP compatibility etc.

Can I use a Xbox One controller for a Xbox 360?

    Hi!

    Unfortunately the
    peripherals
designed for X1 are not compatible with X360.

Instead, all peripherals released for X1 (or X1S) are compatible on Xbox One X.

connecting xbox 360 to xbox one

To connect the the 360 to the X1, you use the HDMI IN port. Therefore, signal is going from the 360 to the X1. You still need to connect the X1 to an HDMI compatible tv or use an adapter to connect to other connections. You can't play the X1 through the
    360.
  18. Mad Cow Dizease Win User

    PLEASE ADD IN BACKWARDS COMPATIBILITY

The updated tech on he X1 implies every 360 and XBLA game to date would need to be re-written to be X1 compatible. Not happening. Be sure to keep your 360, service for it will resume when the X1 is released.
  19. eber3 Win User

    Getting discontinued ?

And the backwards compatible games on the X1 run off of the 360 servers.
