  1. 360 won't recognize USB flash drive.

I'm having a problem with my Xbox 360 not detecting my brand new flash drive. I can't find any info on how to get the Xbox to detect it other than making sure the drive is formatted using the FAT32 file structure. Which I have done multiple times using
my computer. It's a brand new Sandisk Cruzer Glide 16gb USB 2.0. My 360 is the old white model from 2007. The LED on the flash drive lights up and flashes when plugged into the Xbox. The usb ports are ok because other devices work just fine when plugged into
them. I've been trying to get it to work for a couple days now and have run out of ideas on what the issue might be. Thank you for any and all help.

    :)

  2. Game Drive - you need to attach an xbox 360 hard drive

Do you have any other usb storage devices plugged into your console? Because the Xbox 360 will only recognize 2 at a time. So let’s say you have two flash drives plugged in already, it wouldn’t recognize the hard drive without removing one of the flash drives
    first.

Please tell me this is a sick joke

You need a 16 gb USB flash drive. It MUST have sufficient read speed 15mb/s

"This initial install will require an Xbox 360 Hard Drive or an external 16GB USB flash drive with at least 8 GB of free space. If using a USB flash drive it must be at least USB 2.0 with a minimum 15mb/s read speed and formatted for Xbox 360 use. A new USB flash drive is recommended to ensure optimum performance. "

360 won't recognize USB flash drive.

Hi there, did you configure the flash drive as xbox storage.

    -

    support.xbox.com/.../usb-flash-drive

    -

    Format a USB flash drive

Plug a USB flash drive into a USB port on the front of your console.

Press the Guide button on your controller, go to Settings and then select System Settings.

    Select Storage or Memory.

    Select USB Storage Device.

Choose either Configure Now or Customise to format the USB flash drive for Xbox content.

Note If the USB flash drive doesn’t have at least 1 GB of space available, the options on this screen are not available. In this case, use a different USB flash drive.

Configure Now: Erases the USB memory stick and configures 32 GB for Xbox storage

Select Configure Now and confirm that you want to erase all data on the USB flash drive.

Customise: Configures a portion of the USB memory stick (up to 32 GB)

    Select Customise.

Move the Reserved Storage slider to select the amount of space you want for Xbox storage.

Note 512 MB is reserved for system use.

    Select Configure.

The console tests your USB flash drive to make sure that it works correctly with the console. If your USB flash drive passes this test, you can use it.

Note If the USB flash drive is rated below the recommended speed, you might experience reduced game performance and quality. To cancel and try another USB flash drive, select Cancel.

Your USB flash drive is ready to use and is listed as a USB Storage Device.

Now you can use your USB flash drive like any other Xbox storage device. For information on how to copy and move content between storage devices, see Copy, move or delete Xbox 360 content. You can only plug two USB flash drives into your Xbox 360 console
    at once.

Note Information stored by your Xbox 360 console on a USB flash drive can’t be viewed or accessed on a computer.

Hi again, is your system software fully up to date. When you formatted the flash drive on your PC did you do a full format, sometimes a quick format doesn't quite get things working as they should.

Is there somebody that can help solve CheshireGrundle and my USB issue that USB flash drives doesn't show up in storage list (They formatted in FAT32, console is up-to-date, cache cleared, others drive is not plugged in (But working) and all that stuff)
? By the way, my thread is forgotten and, as it seems nobody has an answer to it.

360 won't recognize USB flash drive.

I have seen this clear up some issues with usb devices, power the console off and remove the power cable, press the power button several times, reconnect the power cable and give things another try.

Also if it is a cheap no name brand it won't likely work

Not all USB drives are created equal it is best to buy reliable and high quality drives

  11. Console is up to date, full format not a quick format (although I've tried that too), FAT32 file structure. SanDisk is probably the leader when it comes to memory cards of any type. Flash drive works fine with my PC. Xbox USB ports work fine with other
USB accessories. Unplugged the power cord and pressed the power button a couple times, and still nothing. I've even resorted to defragging and error checking the flash drive using my PC. Starting to wonder if my 360 is just too old to use the new flash drive.

  13. 360 won't recognize USB flash drive.

On your computer, download an xbox format software. That's what i had to do for my flash drives. Just Google it and find the one that fits your system requirements.
