360 s mw3 edition starts up flashes red dot then powers off

Bought a 360 slim. It's the MW3 one plugged it in and when powered on the fan runs the power supply is good ad the green light comes on for a second. Then the light turns red flashes about 5 or 6 times then shuts down. I checked the warranty and it expired
in 2013 (darn) really would like to see what's going on its definitely a keeper just because of the MW3, I'd do a case swap but I learnt that even the power and disc tray makes a cod themed noise

Single red dot, Xbox 360

I was using my Xbox 360 last night and all was fine, I switched it off and went to bed. I woke up turned on the 360 and had a red dot instead of a green one on the start up, it started green then went red after about 2 seconds. I have ejected any discs,
I have checked the HD bay, I have tried a different power socket, the red dot persists.

Any clues or ideas would be most welcome.

Hi all i had an issue in the last 2 days with my xbox 360 S 250gb i turned it on and it went to the red dot but left it off for a while and then turned back on and it was working ok !!.

But this morning same thing again red dot when turning it on then turned it off now working again !! But imm worried this is leading to something bigger ?? I haev taken out the hard drive and put it back in and its working fine but can anyone tell me why

I'm sorry to hear you are having troubles with your limited edition console! A flashing red light usually means the Xbox is not getting enough ventilation. It sounds like you just purchased the Xbox, though, in which ventilation shouldn't be a problem,
yet. I'm assuming the console was purchased used? If so, it sounds like the previous owners didn't disclose this problem with it (or didn't know), in which I am sorry again. The best solution now would be to send it in for a repair.

Since it is past its warranty, it will not be a free repair. You will be able to see the cost of the repair before you finalize the repair order, though, so you can cancel the oder if you want. It is hard to give up on such a cool console, but you do what
