360 S Freezing, tried hard drive format , update etc - its half term and raining , need an ...

Hi the x box starting to freeze last week , my son plays GTA, JC2 , CoG etc. The system could not update, so after talking to x box support we downloaded the update on a pen stick and uploaded the update thinking it was that . However it still freezes, so
we were told to format the hard drive, we did , added back the info to the hard drive. It still freezes . The machine is well ventilated

Not sure what else we can do , any advice welcome

360 won't play Xbox games

I have an Xbox 360 S with a 250gb hard drive. I am trying to play SW: KOTOR but it keeps saying it can't play and to download it again (its a disc)

I have tried all the suggestions, clear the cache, delete the update and reupdate, format hard drive, tried different Xbox, tried different hard drive, tried different discs, tried different games. Hard reset, restored system defaults. I am not sure what
to do?

can connect to internet but not xbox live / update problems

hi there, tried removing the hard drive and retrying the update but its giving the same messages again, i've had problems with my hard drive in the past including freezing problems and my data becoming corrupted alot.. does this mean i may need a new hard
drive?

It could be the storage device itself. Can you please remove all storage devices from the console and start it up to see if it continues to freeze? If you only have one and are using a 360 S system with 4GB internal drive then download a small game to
it and launch it to see if it freezes.

If it does not but freezes only when the hard drive is plugged in then you'll need to purchase a new drive for it.

Hi there, its not ideal but to perform the update without your hard drive you can insert a USB flash drive into the console and format it using the xbox, this will allow you to download and apply the update to your console. You will need a USB flash drive
that is at least 1gb capacity. You could also use the flash drive as a temporary hard drive if needed.

In regards to the hard drive issues, it could be one of many things... corrupt, damaged etc... Does your console allow you to clear the system cache of your hard drive or is the only option you have to format?

Freezing and slowing down it's sign of errors in hard drive. Seems your console's hard drive needs formatting.

The remaining space is reserved for stuff such as Xbox 360 Updates, Temporary Cache, Formatting Data, etc. This happens with every Hard Drive and is 100% Normal.
