360 original games and payments

Hello this is my first and only xbox console I ever owned the Xbox account came from the old and now defunct games for windows live service. So the problem I have here is that I want to get conker live and reloaded I have read the q &a on this subject
multiple times and you guys are kinda being harsh on new Xbox owners that just picked one up. I just ordered 2 games for the system however they won't be here for quite a while I do have a 30 day free trial for that games pass the biggest carp shoot here is
that conker is not on their for what ever reason.yes it came with a game (forza) I won't play it yes i used a code. Kind makes me mad that I might have to blow more money on another console just to buy games it also makes me mad that I can not use a pre-paid
card to buy said games from xbox.com.

You can surely buy Conker Live & Reloaded and it's backwards compatible. However, you can not use account balance to play backwards compatible games, so if you use a Credit Card it will work.

Also, I must say Forza Horizon 4 and Forza Motorosport both are great games, and you should give it a try as one of those came with your console.

Backward compatible 360 games can be purchased on a 360 console with currency on an account, then downloaded onto an Xbox One.

Otherwise a credit card is needed. You can always post feedback at http://feedback.xbox.com/ so the right people see it.

Try to buy it either on the website or an Xbox 360 if possible. Also even if it's free original Xbox and 360 titles require a payment information tied to the account.

Nope. The One store does not see the Microsoft account balance as a valid payment option for 360 or original Xbox games. Only a credit card or Paypal can be used. The funds can only be used on a 360 console for backwards compatible content.

I worked with Microsoft Support online and my problem was confirmed. Trying to use a pre-existing card on file would not work, and adding the card through "Change Payment Options" did not work.
I was introduced to a work-around though which did resolve my problem.

I wanted to write down the steps to resolve this issue, because I know when I research online for answers that someone later on might find this thread.

The work around was to
add my payment option through an already owned
Xbox 360 game or original Xbox game's DLC page.

For example (what I did):

I purchased "Crysis 3" (For the
Xbox 360) a long time ago. This was under my purchases, and I downloaded the game to my
Xbox One. You could possibly also find an old Xbox 360 physical game. I then ran the game, and went to the "Downloadable Content" store in the game. I clicked a random item to purchase (with no intention
on buying the item), and was prompted to "Add Payment". I again tried to add my payment.. but this time it worked. And my payment information stuck around for
Xbox 360 and
original Xbox games. I can now download
Xbox 360 and original Xbox games, both in the
Microsoft Store on the Xbox One and in a web Browser.
