360 live shutting down next year?

just heard a rumor XBox LIve service for 360 will be shut down next year, true?

Worried about the XBOX LIVE on Xbox 360 Shutting Down.

Hello Microsoft. I was worried about the XBOX LIVE on Xbox 360 Shutting Down Next Year. Is this true? Because someone just posted that your Company is Shutting Down the XBOX LIVE on Xbox 360. If it's true please don't shut down the XBOX LIVE on Xbox360.
There's still a lot of people are playing XBOX LIVE on Xbox 360. Thank you and have a nice day Microsoft Community!

 

Since 360 Live is going down next year, DLC should be free

Who says live on the 360 is shutting down next year? Nothing official has been announced & even if it had why should dlc be free,developers still have to make money.

Nope. Or at least extremely doubtful. Put it this way. It took them 5 years after the release of the Xbox 360 to shut down Xbox Live for the original Xbox. I can see many years still left in the 360.

 

Same as Zen says it seems extremely unlikely so soon.

Yes they will shut down one day but I can't see it happening next year. I would wait for 'official' news from MS regarding this matter before reading anything into an unsubstantiated rumour.

 

Everyone is getting confused about when the 360 will lose support. Right now, the only people that know are Microsoft themselves. I suspect the 360 will be around for a few more years.

 

If I remember correctly, around the same time the One came out, someone from Microsoft said that Live for the 360 would still run through at least 2016. They never said it would definitely be shut down at that time though. With as many games that are still
being released on it and as many people that are still using the 360, I doubt they'll shut it down that soon.

 

Eventually it will be shut down, but not for another couple of years at least. As Microsoft is still selling Xbox 360 consoles, it would be a bad marketing decision for them to cut support for a product they are still selling.

 

New games are still being released for the 360 so nothing to worry about at the moment.

And also remember that companies like Bungie have promised on-line support for games like Destiny for x number of years (8 years I think it read in the original press release).

 

I really think what's going to happen is that the 360 will lose support, but the servers will stay up for a while longer. Wasn't that how the original xbox ended?

 

It's just a rumor until Microsoft makes and official statement. There are a ton of users saying it's true because of a Eurogamer and IGN story but it all rubbish man. Close to 20 of these posts daily and not one has a bit of truth to it.
