360 Games for Gold without a 360

With the future arrival of backward compatibility I thought it would be a good idea to claim any 360 Games for Gold even though I only have a One in case they become playable at some point.

I have tried to buy this month's Gears of War through the store and receive this error:

"Is this your first purchase? To ensure it is compatible, please sign in to Xbox Live using your console and try again."

Anyway I can bypass this without owning a 360?

Gold membership

Xbox One games with gold games require a gold subscription to continue playing for free. 360 games with gold games do not so you can keep playing those without gold.

Any games you actually purchase are yours to play with or without gold.

Do I need live gold in order to redeem a prepaid Xbox card?

You can purchase 360 games from the marketplace even without a gold membership though prepaid cards of MS currency.

Gold membership for 360 includes benefits regarding online multiplayer and discounts so its the choice for serious gamers.

If you have a friend who has a 360, download your gamertag to their console and get the game. However, please be aware that you do require a Gold membership in order to get the free game with gold. Currently you are only showing as Silver.

360 Games downloaded with Games with Gold will (s far as i know) still work on One without anything. Only One Games Need Gold or Gamepass to work .

for me, my old GwG Games i downloaded on 360 will still work without Gold and co. on One.

But hey, why without Gamepass…

The only way to download the 360 games with gold without a credit/debit card would be from a 360 console
