Discus and support 360 Controller on PC - is Xbox for Windows program required?? in XBoX on Consoles to solve the problem; I'm trying to use a wireless Xbox controller connected via Play & Charge kit to play Darksiders II on Steam.     360 Controller on PC - is Xbox for Windows program required??


    I'm trying to use a wireless Xbox controller connected via Play & Charge kit to play Darksiders II on Steam. Win10 auto installed the drivers for it when plugging it in, but the controller lights merely blink in unison. I restarted after installing the drivers,
    and tried every USB port (2.0 and 3.0). Device Manager lists it as "Xbox 360 Wireless Controller via Play & Charge Kit" under "Xbox 360 Peripherals". Troubleshooting via Windows tells me it's an older device and needs to be plugged into a USB 2.0 port, but
    it is plugged into one. Must I install the Xbox for Windows program for it to work? If not, what else can I do?

    Nevermind, where I went wrong was when I listened to the Gamestop employee who said that's all I'd need. Needed the wireless receiver as the USB cable was meant to charge only.

    Hi there,

    in order to connect a wireless Xbox 360 controller to a PC you will require a wireless receiver, the 360 controllers do not support bluetooth.

    The 360 has never had the ability to see simple SMB/CIFS shares from a Windows PC.



    For a 360 to play back content from a PC, a media server/transcoder has always been required. Windows Media Player is one such program. There are many, many others.

    First of all, this is only a rumour NOT confirmed news. What the rumour actually says is that you can play Xbox 360 games on a Windows 8 PC, meaning they are still required to use a controller, not the keyboard/mouse,
    as the game is still a 360 (not PC) game.
