    360 console reccomendation?

after a few years break, im looking to get back on Xbox 360. so ill be buying another 360 console, "used".

anything i should keep in mind... like dont buy a console with an manufacture date older than --- ? is finding one with a Jasper chip something i should do?

are the slim models as reliable as the non-slim? i dont mind a non-slim. appriciate your thoughts. thanks

ps. i like the online shooters and fallout 3 btw if that matters.

    :)

    360 console

Best practices...? Is the console made to stand or lie flat?

    360 console

It is made for both. However standing it on its side could lead to it being knocked over which can cause disaster if you have a game in the console. Its best to lay ot flat

    360 console reccomendation?

Hey there IKnives! I would not recommend buying a used console because you run the risk of the console being banned. 360 console reccomendation? :) The slim's have a built in wifi feature, and they are also alot quiter then the Original Xbox 360 Pro and Xbox 360 Elite consoles. 360 console reccomendation? :)

thanks Ownage. is the WIFI on the slims any good? i remember ppl complaining about the WIFI adapaters for the non-slim back when i played.. poor signal ect.

a quiter system sounds good, and sounds like it may not overheat and get RROD as likely as a non-slim.

if i were to buy used, how would i avoid that risk of buying a console that was banned? buy from someone i trust, just ask the person if it was ever banned?

i do have a few other WIFI devices around the house, so sharing the signal most of the time, excpet late night, is something id have to do.

    Hey again IKnives!

I have had my Xbox Slim for two years and have not had a single problem with it overheating or having Wifi issues. 360 console reccomendation? :)

Again, I strongly recommend buying a new console from a Microsoft Authorized Retailer. Even if it has never been banned, it still runs the risk of it being banned in the future do too the previouse owners actions, and what would happen if the console did wind
up getting banned, and it was out of the retailers return policy date? You would pretty much be screwed, so I would strongly recommend to spend a few extra bucks and buy a new one. 360 console reccomendation? :)

Also, you have know idea HOW many people I've seen posting in the Xbox 360 Account Suspensions & Console Bans forum about them asking for their console to be unbanned because they bought it used.

Get a Slim or E model as the fail rate on them is alot lower than the old school Fat consoles and I agree with inb4 with buying one brand new. No hassles or any worries to go. If you wanna get cheaper gold membership check out ebay or amazon.

  11. The new model 360E does look nice (like a little Xbox One) but it does not have an AV port or an optical output as on the 360S.

The E also uses exactly the same model HDD as the S.

The S as previously stated has built in Wi-Fi and is quiet in comparison to the original 360.

The original 360 console had three incarnations each with different chipsets, Xenon, Falcon and Jasper, in that order.

The last, Jasper, has the lowest power consumption of the three and is the one to go for. A quick guide for identifying the chipset here -

If you did want to go down the second hand route there are certain retailers who check and guarantee the on-line function of used consoles, ie, that they have not been banned.

    360 console reccomendation?

I would stay away from buying a used console. If the previous owner got a console ban you wont be able to connect to xbox live. Also if the previous owner was apart of the Entertainment for All plan and didnt pay the console cant connect to live.

They might be true technological facts but IMO that's poor advice

Unless you are buying a dodgy console off a car-boot sale there is no risk.

Any retail store selling second hand consoles DO NOT sell banned consoles.

If they did by accident it would be exchanged.

Also if you buy from eBay or anywhere else online, the same applies.

The second hand market is a fantastic thing and I fully support it.

Not everyone has the luxury of being able to buy everything new.

And even if you have, its wasteful and bad for the environment.

We already live in too much of a disposable world.

I very much support pre-owned games and consoles.

Actually its very good advice. I take it you have never traded in a console. When you trade one in you dont have to connect to xbox live, you only have to prove that the console can play a game. Once you prove that it works, you get your money or store credit.
Now if the console has been its only banned from live. If it has veen banned from live once its sold to a new owner they wouldnt be able to connect to live because the previous owner got over on the store. Its a fact that this happen, look at the support forums
or on the chat. Or did you spend all your time doing EU to get that star?
