I'm looking for advice on getting reimbursed or some form of compensation for games broken by faulty console, this is my third console with same problem and I'm fed up spending money.

The thing is, that console must be squeaky clean, so not much content on the hard drive, what about when it has all your library of digital games? My consoles also used to boot really fast, but after a few years thing get slow.Click to expand...

Yea, but unlike the 360 the console is never rule powered off, just in low power. It won't need a hard boot of the Hdd any more.

when the ebox was being asemble by ist munufacturar the wrong cd drive went into the wrong xbox in other words that cd drive you have is nolonger compatable when data console you are playing it on.

In before you get told that the damage is your own fault. Microsoft refuses to acknowledge that the fault is in the disc drive design, despite some third parties coming to this conclusion. Either way, install your games. Make sure your console is on a flat
surface, and if that doesn't help then stand it up vertically. Alternatively just buy your games as digital media rather than using discs.

aperenty you can find the update on the internet and then install it or on a cd hope this helps

How to install:

1.) Unrar the download

2.) Copy the $SystemUpdate folder to the root of a CD or USB Stick (The memory stick must be FAT or Fat32 formatted)

3.) Insert the CD or USB Stick into your Xbox 360 console.

4.) You will be automatically prompted to update with a USB stick, with a CD / DVD it should say Mixed Media Disc, power down the 360 and power it on again. You should be ask to update before the 360 boots to the dashboard.

5.) Once the update is complete your Xbox 360 will restart then boot up to the new dashboard. Enjoy!

I agree that the source of the issue is the Seagate 1TB drive. The drive works fine with the Xbox 360 except for the first boot. That's what I'm confused about; the drive works fine when plugged in after the Xbox 360 boots up. What's even weirder is I
can leave the drive connected, turn the Xbox 360 on, and when the screen freezes, leave the drive connected but turn the Xbox 360 off and back on immediately and the Xbox 360 will boot up.

If the drive didn't work with the Xbox 360 at all, I wouldn't even be here. But it is only having issues on the first boot. This doesn't make sense to me. If the Xbox 360 recognizes the drive under every other condition, what is causing the issue with
the first boot?

There was an issue a while ago with some flash drives not being recognized properly when left in the console during a cold boot.

Sounds like the flash drive is marginal, at least with respect to the 360.
