    360 Can't Locate 5GHz Network Thru Extender

This one has me baffled. I have a Netgear AC1750 router with an AC750 wifi extender (model 3700). I have an external wireless card for the 360 that can locate the 5GHz network coming directly from the router but can't locate it through the extender. Initially
I thought the 360 didn't have the right antenna but if it can grab the 5GHz from the router then it has to be something else. Any ideas? Thanks!

    :)

xbox 360 slim 4gb network specs

The xbox 360 slim's built in wireless network adaptor DOES NOT support the 5ghz band. The "N" protocol is available in both the 2.4ghz and the 5ghz radio band. However the slims internal wireless nic is not capable of operating on the 5ghz band.

    360 Can't Locate 5GHz Network Thru Extender

    Heya mprofit1.

Firstly, do you have any trouble connecting to Xbox Live while connected to just your 5GHz router? If not, is there any particular reason why you're trying to connect via extender? Also, have you verified that your extender is connecting to both of your
Netgear's bands? Make sure each is given a separate name.

Generally extenders can cause some networking trouble which is why we recommend connecting directly to router via wire or wireless.

MM, the reason for the extender is that the router is on a different floor and the signal gets weak. I thought getting an extender would fix the issue. And yes, both bands have different names. Not sure if there's a fix or if I'm going to run it on 2.4ghz.

    Thanks.

  6. You might need to reach out to Netgear support to have them take a look, generally the Extender uses the same SSID's as the Router. (Though you can configure this in the settings to be different.)

Also, you might want to double check in your Router's settings to ensure the 5ghz channel is visible. Sometimes they're not turned on by default.

    Hi,

Do you have a device that is capable of connecting to the 5 GHz SSID on the extender, from the same location as where you have your console positioned? For example, your smartphone.

Have you used the "Router Link" LED on the extender, to determine the best location between your primary wireless router and the extender.

Do you have WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup) enabled on the extender? If so, disable this feature.

Make sure your primary wireless router and the extender doesn't operate on the same RF channel for the 2.4 GHz band.

My brother recently set up a range extender for a different network on the router and the 5Ghz network has not worked since. No specific error codes at the moment
