  2. Lost progress, maybe corresponding with downloading a game through Live.

I am wondering if anyone can help me. We are not a "gamer" family, and use our Xbox 360 mostly for our young boys, so we don't use Live. Recently I used my Live profile to purchase a game. Since then, we have two games (at least) that seem to have lost
progress (saved to our Xbox 360 hard drive). One of them has a saved game where his progress used to be that is dated back to 2005, which is before the time we owned our Xbox. Two days ago, his entire progress was there. The other game has a last saved
date of April of this year (which is also when we purchased the game through Live, but is not his progress- in this game, he had completed the whole thing and it now is at very small progress. I have checked the date on our console, which is correct.

I have worked with support and nothing seem to be wrong with our system. We have also checked other games which seem to be fine (that haven't been played in a while)

So, I don't exactly know what my question is except, is there a way to retrieve his progress? He will be a very happy boy if any of you can help him get his full Lego Star Wars game back!

Thanks in advance for your help!

Yes you will still keep any saved game progress as already stated. Save game files are stored on a selected memory device and not to the disc. Certain games which have online multiplayer also store your MP progress on their servers so that online progress
    will also be saved.

Q: Can I continue a game that I started on my Xbox 360?

A: If you have saved your games to the cloud from an Xbox 360, you will be able to continue that game on the Xbox One. Some titles do not support cloud storage. In those cases, game saves will not be recovered on the Xbox One. For help on saving your games

Gold trial membership expiring..question about Xbox360/XboxOne backwards compatibility and saved games

Backwards compatibility was added "at no extra cost" so it should still run on a free membership.

You can save all you save games to the cloud on the 360 and when you membership expires you can still copy the saves from there but you will not be able to sync back to the cloud. I think this might prevent you from saving your game progress while playing
a 360 game to the cloud. hopefully someone else can confirm/deny this.

How to delete cloud saves for Xbox 360 game from Xbox Series X console

Thanks for the idea! I did those steps, and it seems like it only deleted the local data and didn’t delete the progress in the cloud.

When I went to storage->profile, I had the option to delete “profile only” or “profile and items”, so I picked “profile and items”.

Then I had to sign in again and redownload the profile, and my save game progress was still there.

I also tried going to storage->saved games and deleted the relevant saved game from that menu, but once I started the game up and chose cloud save as the storage option, it must have downloaded it again since the save game progress was still there.

Side note - It’s pretty slick that the 360 interface is still hiding in the new consoles, kudos to the team for doing that work and keeping back compat!

Profile / Saving transferation from One to 360

If you play a back compat game on XB1, the 360 save is going to your cloud save. from the xbox 360, when selecting the save location, just select cloud storage and the file from XB1 will be there. From the storage section on the 360 you can copy that
to local USB if you want a back-up, or remove the cloud save and upload a local save if you had a different file you wanted to use, etc.
