    360 A Won't Recognize LAN Cable


    Finally got around to trying to get the internet working on my xbox but I'm having no success in doing so.

    It is the original model but I'm unable to determine the board in it.

    Falcon, but I'm unable to determine if its v1 or v2, because the production date is borderline. (7/29/2008)

    I've checked the LAN cable and the whole path to the modem, which all function fine, but when plugged into the ethernet port on my console, it doesn't register as being connected, nor when I check the router controls, it shows an empty port.

    Does this mean that the ethernet port on the xbox is fried and can't be saved w/o shipping it off?

    Could one of the devices that converts LAN to USB be used and plugged into one of the usb ports?

    I don't have the wifi usb adapter, but am looking into getting one if it can still be used even though the ethernet port is dead.

    Xbox will not connect to the Router

    I try to connect my xbox to my router using the LAN. But I keep getting a message "To use a wired Internet connection , make sure an Ethernet cable is connected to both your console and your router or modem". And the cable is connected, it was working for
    months but now nothing. I also have the wireless for my xbox but it has a slower connection than using the LAN cable. And is the reason why I want to use the LAN. I have already try a different cable and it still does not work. I even swap out the cables
    that connect my desktop to my router but still everything works fine. So I know its not a bad cable. I also have turn off my router and my xbox waited a few mins and turn everything back on and still the router won't recognize the xbox.

    Please help?

    Can't connect to Xbox Live on my One

    Won't connect to the Xbox Live through Wi-Fi or ethernet. All other devices connect to the network through LAN and Wi-Fi. My 360 on the same network connects just fine. Ethernet connection verified to work by connecting a computer. it recognizes that there's
    a "wired" connection in network settings. If I set up wireless connection it recognizes my network. Tried adding to my list of devices on the router but received message "IP address not recognized". Not sure what else to try?

    The wifi is not working on my device, but I can connect through a LAN cable, but if there's no LAN I won't be able to connect since there's an error with my device.

    If the cable you know is good (it works on other devices) then there is a high probability the LAN port on your xbox is the issue. To repair that would require logging a hardware support case.

    If the cable is a cat6 cable it should work. If not this could be the issue. If one of the cables you tried is a cat6 then it should be an issue with the console. In that case i would recommend to go to the device support page and set it up for an repair
    or talk to the store where you bought it.

    Thanks for reaching out to us here on the Forums!

    We understand that the cables are not working on the console itself but it does on other devices. Have you been using the same brand of cables each time?

    Considering everything, it would seem that there might be an issue with the port itself on the console. I would recommend looking into getting the console repaired.
