30fps vs 60fps

This is Mirror's Edge running at 30 vs 60 frames per second. Notice that the 30fps option looks more gritty and realistic in movement, compared to the 60fps, which seems as if the player has a well oiled neck.

Now look at this.

The 60fps gives the player quick reactions whereas the 30fps feels sluggish.

In this scenario, the 30fps and 60fps look very similar, which bodes well for Forza Horizon 2. A racing game requiring tight reactions would prefer the 60fps option, but a racing game looking for beauty is perfectly welcome to run at 30fps.

This proves the debate is wrong: 30fps is more cinematic and ultimately more realistic in certain situations. 60fps provides quicker reactions and is good for FPS or racers, but anything not requiring immediate accuracy, I would prefer to run at 30fps to
get the very best visual quality. It's not so cut and dry as some say.

one vs 360

Everything better with the Xbone. 60fps, 32 vs 32 games (more players, whatever the number is), etc. 360 will be 30fps and 12 vs 12 or whatever it was with BF3.

Doesn't bother me personally if it's 30fps or 60fps as long as it is consistent and not dropping.

 

But... but... Great Wind!... Biotic God!...

 

60fps looks better in all those clips, but both have to be consistent or it looks awful.

 

30fps vs 60fps is way overblown. Unless you are running the same game side by side with them both in a full sync gameplay, you will hardly every notice. Unless you are hyper sensitive.

 

Give me 120fps every day of the week

[/quote]Play Dark Souls at 30 fps then play it on PC at 60 fps. You'll easily ask yourself how you even played the game at 30 fps. It literally feels like an entirely different game with how much more responsive it is.

 

@Bon3zz well, there you go. Would you have ever noticed if you weren't on PC? I am not a PC gamer. So I will never know. And honestly, I wouldn't be able to tell the difference if is was on console. Example: MW3 vs BF3. I seen know difference. Other
than BF3 looked better

 

Fast fluid gameplay is important to me, so the higher the frame rate the better, as long as too much detail does not have to be sacrificed that is...

 

You can play any game at 30 fps then 60 fps and notice regardless because of fluidity and responsiveness alone. I really don't know how you can't see and feel the difference.

 

Yeah, I don't know bon3zz. Like I said. MW3 ran higher than BF3 and I couldn't tell. Perhaps because MW3 was a faster paced game, it just looked and felt faster. But BF3 in my opinion was better. But that is game preference

 

As previous PCs have aged, the first thing I start knocking down is the detail and effects.
Resolution is always the last thing to go for me in order to maintain higher frame rates.

I have Gears of War for my PC and it runs at 60fps. Playing the game with a friend on his 360 and the difference was incredible, it felt as if I was fighting through tar in order to get Dom to do anything. In case you are wondering, I play the game with
a 360 controller on my PC too.

As to 30fps looking more cinematic, I wonder if it isn't just that folk have gotten used to it. Look at 'The Hobbit' which was shot and run at 48 frames per second. I thought it looked fantastic but a couple of the friends I saw it with said the film 'looked
weird'.
