30 Days Security Update + Forgot Password

Since your account needs to be verified, for now, there is a need to wait for 30-days before you can use the newly added security information to verify and access your Microsoft account. If you're able to reactivate the current security information on your account, to receive the verification code, there will be no need to wait for 30 days.

The 30-day waiting period implemented on your account is automated for security and privacy purposes. All security protocol applies in our account has no human intervention, and this security method is discussed under the Microsoft account terms in use. The reason for this waiting period is to give the real account owner enough time to be alerted of any changes.

Once added, you will be informed that the new security information can be used after 30 days. The 30-day waiting period helps Microsoft stop unauthorized people from trying to completely take over an account that isn't theirs. This also gives the real account owner enough time to be alerted of any major changes and to cancel it if they didn't make those changes.

You're correct that is if you know the password, however, you're in the process of resetting it when you needed to update your security information since you don't know the password, you will be able to sign in once your security information is updated, that is where the verification code will be sent when you will reset your password.

Within this 30-day period, a code or notification is being sent to your original security information, if no one will validate or verify the notification being sent there after 30 days your new security information will be updated.

You can update your security proof (where your verification codes are sent to) as long as you know your email and password for your account by going to account.live.com and signing in there and trying to do anything that would require a code like changing
the password.

This will however for security purposes put a 30 day hold on your account so that you will not be able to do anything that requires a security proof till the new security proof is updated after the 30 days.

In step four if it is saying after you put the code in after updating the security information is saying that you have to wait 30 days for the update to take affect that means the phone number you are putting in that step is not the same phone number
that they have for security verification and if you do not have access to the current security info but have access to the email and password then MS will allow you to change the security info but there is a 30 day waiting period for it to take affect.

So by doing this you will lose access to your account for 30 days while the security proofs are updated.

This will only work as long as you have know the email and password for your account.

Sign into your account at account.microsoft.com/addassocid this will bring up the box wanting you to verify your account since you do not have access to the current security proofs they will allow you to update the security proof on your account but that
update takes 30 days (for security purposes) to take affect.

Once that 30 days is up you will then be able to sign back into the account.microsoft.com/addassocid page and it will then ask for verification to be sent to the new security proof and once thats verified will give you the option to change the email that
is associated with the account.
