30 day wait period for security info

Im trying to buy a new game digitally for the first time I've had my xbox account from the 360 and have never done so. when I tried to add payment details it asked for a securtiy code (as you can see from my email) it was an old hotmail account that was
purged from the system. I have added my cellphone number to the account but it says I cant do any purchasing for 30 days since I cant get a security code until then? Is there a way this can be sped up?

I am sorry you're experiencing this issue, however as stated on the
Security info & security codes help article it says:

If you remove all of your security info, there’s a 30-day wait during which we help protect sensitive parts of your account so nobody can change your security settings or use your payment options. During this period you can still use your email, Skype,
OneDrive, and devices as usual. After the 30 days, you’ll be notified that the wait is over and it’s time to enter new security info.

It is for your accounts safety. Not because Microsoft "wants to do it, just to do it". They want their customers to know their account is safe.

The 30 day wait period is in place to prevent users from creating too many different LIVE IDs - it's a security and scalability measure.

If the password has been changed, you will need to enter the new password to log into the account. If you haven't changed your password you probably won't have to do anything to your account in the console.

Once the 30 wait period has ended you should be able to change your information with ease, yes.

I'd recommend adding you phone number, and a secondary email to prevent issues in the future.

Always remember to update your security information as it changes, and ensure that all of your personal information is up to date. This helps keep you from getting locked out in the future.

Yes but as mentioned you don't want to keep changing security info to frequently as it can start the 30 day timer again.
