3 weeks old Xbox One without Kinect just started whining terribly yesterday

    Hey there,

I have had a new Xbox One since 3,5 weeks and have been happy with it so far. I installed all updates when I got it and have updated it again two weeks ago. So its firmware has been up to date since then.

So far I have had no noise problems with it and I didn't have time to use it very much since I got it. Overall it has been running maybe 25 hours.

Yesterday when I turned it on again to play a few rounds of AW it started to make a loud screeching noice while ingame. I first thought it was the disc drive but the problem occured as well when I removed the disk and ran a game from the hdd. Then I started
to look around the internet and found all those topics everywhere about the coil whine issue of new kinectless consoles. I looked at some videos as well and it definitely is the same sound, so I have the coil whine problem too.

What is different though, is that it just started and my console has had the newest firmware since 2 or so weeks. I understand that the problem went away for some after the last update but this is not the case for me. Another thing that is different is that
the sound occurs when there is a high load on the system. So, it is not there, while in the dashboard lbut it occurs while in game. This is completely the opposite of what people described so far. They always wrote that the noise is stornger while in the dashboard
but quieter while ingame. In my case, it's very apparent in CoD:AW multiplayer. While in the main menu the sound is there but still ok. In the lobby when you can see your character and all the others it gets louder. In the loading screen before each match
it is completely gone. And as soon as the match starts it gets unbearably loud and screechy and it stays like that all thorugh the match. Then it gets quieter again in the post game screens but it's still there. Then, while in the loading screen it's gone
again. But it's not only CoD, I have it in the other games I've tested as well. The higher the load while ingame, the louder and the more annoying the sound.

    :)

    Xbox One gets hot?

Why would it not happen if there is a kinect attached?

    Hey there DhukkaGER!

Sorry to hear about the console noise issue! Let's start by doing a power cycle on the console, which will also clear system cache. Follow the steps below:

    • Press and hold the power button on the Xbox One console for 10 seconds, or until the unit is fully powered off.
    • Unplug the power supply from the back of the Xbox One console and let it sit for 5 minutes.
    • Plug the power back in and power on.
Post back and let us know if that helps! 3 weeks old Xbox One without Kinect just started whining terribly yesterday :)

    Thanks Beep for your help.

After reading here and on other forums I decided to take the Xbox back to the retailer, swallow the bitter and pay the upcharge to get a new console with kinect. The widespread impression is that only consoles without kinect have the problem, so I wanted
to get this problem out of the way.

Xbox One - Controllers Disconnecting Intermittently

Turns out it is a bug. I got the xbox one controller to work but without the kinect... with the kinect on though it starts disconnecting.

    What I did was:

    1. Have your X1 turned off and pull the power plug out.

    2. Pull out the kinect from the xbox.

    3. Chuck back in the X1 power plug.

    4. X1 should restart without the kinect...

simple but can't play with the kinect on... maybe im wrong but im hoping they fix this bug soon so I can play my xbox with kinect on with no messing around. And yes X1 (xbox one) does start without connect, microsoft said that it wouldn't start without kinect
    they're just messing with you.

Just Dance on Xbox Series X

Considering the Kinect doesn't work with the Xbox One X without the use of an adapter (which Microsoft no longer makes), I highly doubt Microsoft will suddenly make it work with the Xbox Series X.

Kinect is dead and should stay dead, it was a terrible idea for the Xbox One and its still a terrible idea.
