Xbox Live Free 1-Month Trials

So...has anyone else noticed the changes Microsoft have made since the updates in regards to first-time gamertags receiving a 1-month free trial of Xbox Live before ever purchasing Gold?

Unless I am mistaken or somehow misunderstood how things work now, in order for anyone to get that free 1-month trial, you have to give them a credit card number to put on file, such that upon the 1-month trial Gold membership being used up, Microsoft (you
guessed it) will automatically start charging your credit card for additional months.

What are your individual feelings on this?

Xbox live gold free trial canceled if I enter code for xbox live gold?

so I'm eligible for free Xbox live gold for 1 month. I got 3 months of Xbox live gold for Christmas but my question is if I enter the code for 3 months of Xbox live gold will it cancel me being able to use free Xbox live gold trial for 1 month?

By the way, I did not use the trial yet.

I should be able to do everything a normal Gold member could.

The one month trial that require a credit are eligible for the games with gold.

I'm pretty sure the 1 month trials is the same as paid ones, when using your credit card info. Only the 14day trial and the 2day trials are not.

You are only granted an orange highlight for your gamercard/gamertag display when you purchase a 1 Month+ Xbox LIVE Gold membership. Trials don't highlight. I guess it's a graphical incentive for people to purchase gold for a month or more, I'm not really
sure.

Was the code for a full gold subscription (1 month, 3 month, or 12 months)? Or was it a gold trial? Trial cards will allow you to play online, but won't change your account to gold.

As of July 1, 2014, there are no offers to receive credits for renewing gold.

The offer to receive gems for keeping gold for 6 months just started on October 1. Since this is the 6th month, you would receive those gems after the end of this month.
