3 Month Game Pass for $1 - Questionable Business Practice

So last week I got an email from the Microsoft store with some "early holiday deals" and one of those deals was to get 1 month of the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate for $1. Seemed like a good deal so earlier this week I signed up. A couple days later they announce
that you can get 3 months for $1. I've been trying to chat with representatives to see if I could get the new deal, but no luck. One even recommended I set up a new Xbox account to get the deal, which I've had my current account, with gold, for a few years
now.

It just seems a bit questionable to send out promotional material a week before a better deal comes along. Anyone else fall for their trap? Makes me hesitant to take advantage of any "deals" that they offer.
