    3 Flashing red lights - green light on power adapter?


    When I try to start up my xbox 360, it flashes three red lights around the center, and the power adapter light is green. The troubleshooting guide says to request a repair, however, when I tried to request a repair, I was told to register the console. When
    I registered the console, it said that Microsoft won't do out-of-warranty repairs on the 360, and sent me to the forums.

    At this point since the warranty has been expired for so long, I figure that I might as well just open her up myself because I'm pretty good at electronics repairs. But is there some kind of diagnostic tool I could download first to figure out what's going
    on easily, or if not, does anyone have any experience fixing this?

    Sorry to hear it. Unfortunately the old FAT consoles are no longer being serviced due to the extreme age of the consoles.

    Also, we will not be able to assist you further other than suggesting purchasing a newer console as discussion of self repair is strictly forbidden on these forums.

    Power Brick failure.

    Power Supplies don't usually make humming noises. If your Power Supply is in a non-ventilated area it will overheat and the temperature will raise, the Power Supply may show a red light and your console may show 3 flashing red lights or no light at all.
    if you encounter 3 red lights try the Flashing Lights Solution, if you encounter no power try the No Power Solution. If the Flashing Lights Solution or the No Power Solution doesn't solve your problem your Power Supply will need to be replaced.

    Check the steps in the article below for the 3 red lights, as for the power supply if the light is green when the console is on and yellow when the console is off then the power supply should be fine and the issue is the console, if the power supply light
    stays yellow or goes red while the console is on then the issue is the power supply.
