3.5mm mic not working but can hear others

Before we go into troubleshooting, what is the model and type of headset that you are using?

When in a party chat with others you say they can hear you but is there any warning symbol or error message that a microphone cannot be found?

Does the background around the gamer picture react when speaking into the mic?

Turn on Party overlay in the party chat options just but toggling the switch. An indicator will appear when speaking with your gamertag. Do you see this indicator?

Let us know this information and we'll help you figure this out.

Apple unfortunately is such a case. Try a cheap OMTP to CTIA adapter.

Thanks for your reply. To answer your questions:

I’m using a 3.5 apple headphone with mic. No error message appears on my Xbox. My gamer picture does not react when using my mic. I dont see the indicator acttive when speaking the mucrophine.

Apple earbuds are generally not properly supported when it comes to the microphone because the ring around the jack that connects to the mic is located in a different position than the standard that is compatible with Xbox One controllers. The best way to
make con-compatible headsets work is to get an adapter that converts the apple headphones into compatible headphones by converting the headphone standards.

Be aware that there are two standards for 3.5mm headset connectors. CTIA and OMTP. The Xbox requires the CTIA standard. If your headset is an OMTP headset, the connectors for ground and microphone are reversed and will not work ok the Xbox.

If your headset is OMTP, get an adapter cable for CTIA to OMTP and vice versa.
