3.5mm Jack Stopped Working, Anyone Else?

My 3.5mm jack on the new Xbox One S controller stopped working after the 90 day warranty. Controller is now completely useless!

I pay for xbox live gold to talk to and play with friends! But now I can't! And Microsoft won't even try to repair or give me a discounted price? I totally understand the 90-day warranty. But nothing? It's defective! Cmon! I guess I learned my lesson when
buying "Launch Editions".. Too many problems with them.

My neighbor and cousin have both reported that their 3.5mm jacks no longer work either! So who is to say that even if I buy a new controller, what is going to stop it from occurring again? This is not an isolated incident! There are multiple cases across
    multiple forums, and multiple discussions!

Also, I've been an xbox customer since I was 3! I played on the Mtn Dew Edition Original Xbox! But, I guess after 14 years it's time to switch to PlayStation or PC?

I don't have $50/$60 for a replacement controller to replace a controller that I did not break nor altered in any way, it's cosmetically brand-new! Very Very Upsetting! It's even more upsetting when I pre-ordered this Xbox One S Launch Edition and got it
the day it came out, while on 9$ an hour pay at 16 years old!

To put the bow on top; Please Reply to this if you have or have had the same issue as me. Maybe Microsoft will open a repair option for the affected consumers; maybe not. It won't hurt to try.

    Thanks - .

    :)

Why can't my Xbox One S wireless controller detect headsets?

I bought my Xbox one S Wireless Controller in August 2018, and the 3.5mm headphone jack has been working fine. Then, yesterday it just stopped working completely. Can someone help me?

I got the launch Xbox One S 2TB too, but my audio port is still good.

Since it's past that 90-day warranty, it's pretty much "kick some rocks or buy a new controller" warranty status.

    These are your options now:

    - 1. Is there any dirt, dust, or other particles inside the jack? A common way to clean out a jack is with a gentle swab of a pipe cleaner or a dental brush.

    - 2. One (lazy) workaround would be to utilize the accessory port. You could use the Xbox One chat headset, or get that audio
    adapter
    .

    - 3. DIY-repair (further guidance is not supported here in the forums).

    - 4. Replace outright (through
    device support
    or just
    buy separate
    ).

    3.5mm jack not working

When the headphones are plugged into the jack, open the Xbox guide, navigate to the rightmost tab, and you should see an "Audio" setting appear between "Settings" and "Xbox Assist". Opening "Audio" should bring you to a new menu with a series of volume sliders
for game/chat audio. Ensure nothing is muted. If it's not appearing, try to see that the headphone jack doesn't have any dust or other particles inside. You can blow it out, or swab gently with a Q-tip or pipe cleaner.

Worst case scenario, the headphone jack might be defective. The quickest solution in this case is to return everything to your retailer for an exchange, since you said you only bought the system less than a week ago. Otherwise, you can send it in to Microsoft
    for repairs here.

Echoing is usually the result of your chat audio being so loud in your ear that it's being picked up by the mic. In the "Audio" menu, you can adjust the "Headset chat mixer" and "Mic monitoring" sliders to reduce the echo. You may need to play around and
    test.

To add to that, you could also try the headset in a laptop/PC or something else with a 3.5mm jack to check if the headset works in another device if you don't have a secondary controller.

They'll work on a PC. They'll work on anything with a combined stereo/microphone 3.5mm jack, like the jack on a smartphone.
