  1. 3.5mm Jack shorts out controller

I have a covert ops controller since that was the first with the 3.5mm jack. for the most part its been great, but recently it seems the jack isnt as secure as it used to be and the controller shuts off if i stand up/move slightly. Anyone have experience
with this, or is this a design flaw?

    TIA

    :)

  3. Headset HELP

Could be the controller 2.5mm mono jack or it could be the cable from the headset to the controller. A lot of enamel coated wires you find in 2.5mm and 3.5mm cables can short out if the cable is pinched or if repeated bending occurs on either end of the
    cable.

A different controller will let you know if you need a new cable or if the jack on your existing controller is going bad. Based on what you describe I think it's probably the controller headset jack.

  4. 3.5mm Jack shorts out controller

    Hi there,

As described, yes I have had this occur and it was due to the headphones that I was using, where the cable wasn't snugly plugged in. Consider that when plugging in a 3.5m headset, the controller is pulling a lot more power.

    Two things I would check:

    1. Make sure you are using the correct batteries (all AA batteries do not operate with the same frequency)

    2. Make sure your cord is not damaged and plugged in all the way so that it does not spin or tilt when you move

Cannot hear audio when headphones connected to my Xbox one controller

Thanks everyone. Since I was smart enough to get insurance on the controller, it worked out. The 3.5mm jack was jacked up,,, I got the money to get another controller. Not sure how the 3.5mm jack became faulty, but a new controller fixed all those issues.

    Headsets

The more recent versions of the Xbox One controller have a 3.5mm jack on the bottom. Older Xbox One controllers require an adapter.

Basically if your controller has a 3.5mm jack on the bottom you are good to go, and if you're buying a new controller I think they all have the 3.5mm jack these days. It's only if you have an early controller you need the adapter.
