    3.5mm jack problems

    Hi all,

I am having issues with my new controller with the built in 3.5mm jack. Of all my headphones in the house, the only pair that actually work are cheapo $5 walmart units. All my other headphones work normally when plugged into our phones, computers, laptops
etc etc etc but will NOT work with the xbox controller's port.

I'm aware that Apple Earbuds have mic compatibility issues, but thats not the case here... there is no sound, at all. I have my lovely Bose QC headphones that I've used for years (and with the old stereo headphone adaptor on the original controller) but they
are inoperative. As soon as I plug the $5 set in, everything is ok.

Is there an issue with these controllers as far as reliability goes? This unit is almost a year old but has really only been used in the last few months. I'm doubtful I could get any warranty on it.

    Thoughts?

    Thanks

    :)

  2. Can I use a standard pair of headphones with a y splitter.

I have a set of headphones which have a 3.5mm jack for audio and a separate 3.5mm jack for the mic. I have the latest xbox one controller with the 3.5mm jack. Can I simply just buy a y splitter for this to work. I understand the y splitter may need to be

    looking to get a headset...

I'm looking to get a headset for my xbox one, as I've got one of the new controllers with the 3.5mm jack, my question is, can I use ANY headset with this that has a 3.5mm jack, even if its one of those cheap $10 cellphone headsets, provided it has
    the required 3.5mm jack?

    Hey AJSupra -

Do you have another controller you can try your other headsets on? Also, definitely take a look at the

    compatible headset guide
and see if your current headsets are compatible.

Keep us posted. 3.5mm jack problems :)

    Hi,

I unfortunately have only the one controller. I used these headphones for years with the old style adaptor on my xbox one controller without issues. Mic worked normally.

    The cable is compatible.

Does this perhaps have anything to do with the units being self powered (they are powered by a AAA battery)??

Xbox Mic not working after December Update

The original Xbox One controllers didn't include a 3.5mm jack. You mentioned that you were using a newer controller and as that will have a 3.5mm jack, it may be possible that the problem you are having with your headset is related to that following the
recent Dashboard update. Unfortunately it appears that Microsoft have introduced an incompatibility between consoles and controllers using the 3.5mm jack.

You may be able to use a stereo headset adapter or chatpad to workaround the issue as the 3.5mm jacks on those devices don't appear to be affected.

    Good luck!

    jack 3.5mm

    Hello!

Can you clarify by what you mean by "New Controller"?

I have two standard Xbox One S controllers that work without any noise or static with a turtle beach headset. It's possible the issue you're having could be something with the specific controller or headset that you're using.
