    3.5mm jack not working

I bought a brand new Xbox one X less than a week ago. Not used or refurbished. Brand new. Along with a brand new controller. I also have a brand new 150$ headset that's compatible with the one x. It has a 3.5mm jack. Both controllers won't register that
anything is plugged into the 3.5 mm jack. I mad early sure that the firmware was up to date which they are. I bought the chat adapter which allows them to work, burn i hate it because my chat always echoes and everyone I play with hates it. Any fix for this?

    :)

    [HELP] 3.5mm jack not working...

Hi, so I won an xbox one s from a giveaway and just recieved it less than a week ago and everything was working fine. I use HD598SE headphones and were working fine on my controller until when I got home from woerk one day and it wouldn't play any audio
through the controller at all... Wouldn't even work with my cheap sony earbuds I have... Please help! This is honestly BS since I have had this for less than a week and have not be aggressive with it at all!

When the headphones are plugged into the jack, open the Xbox guide, navigate to the rightmost tab, and you should see an "Audio" setting appear between "Settings" and "Xbox Assist". Opening "Audio" should bring you to a new menu with a series of volume sliders
for game/chat audio. Ensure nothing is muted. If it's not appearing, try to see that the headphone jack doesn't have any dust or other particles inside. You can blow it out, or swab gently with a Q-tip or pipe cleaner.

Worst case scenario, the headphone jack might be defective. The quickest solution in this case is to return everything to your retailer for an exchange, since you said you only bought the system less than a week ago. Otherwise, you can send it in to Microsoft
    for repairs here.

Echoing is usually the result of your chat audio being so loud in your ear that it's being picked up by the mic. In the "Audio" menu, you can adjust the "Headset chat mixer" and "Mic monitoring" sliders to reduce the echo. You may need to play around and
    test.

Polk 4 Shot now available for preorder in UK at Amazon. £139

They'll work on a PC. They'll work on anything with a combined stereo/microphone 3.5mm jack, like the jack on a smartphone.

    Headphones nor chat are working

The controller just has the 3.5mm jack the XBox One S did not come with the stero headset controller...just plugging into the 3.5mm jack worked for a few weeks right out of the box

    Arctis 7 headphones

Yes, I believe you need a 3.5mm to 3.5mm jack to connect the headset to the socket in the controller for these headphones to work.

Headset Mic issues with Xbox One S

    Hi Shlock,

Please let us know if the adapter works for you. This has worked for many others, as the headset plugs into the adapter. Then the adapter plugs into the controller different than the 3.5mm jack. Seems the 3.5mm jack is the issue.

    Thanks,

    Brad
