    Xbox One WiFi problem

I have a router but I have no idea about how to assign a static IP address. Do you do it through the router or through the Xbox One?

    Strict NAT Issues. Please Help

A static IP address is not necessarily the same thing as a public IP address. However, a static IP address can be public and a public IP address can be static.

What it sounds like to me is the apartment complex is going to give you a static private IP address on their network where they can do configuration on your address to allow gaming from that IP address on their network.

    Static IP.

    Hi!

Static IP (internet protocol) is a fixed address that communicates with the router. Without static IP the router dynamically assigns an IP to the device and can cause some conflict in the case of IP already assigned to another device.

It is always advisable to use a static IP to be able to individually manage the opening of the ports on the firewall and monitoring. You can check the setting on: Settings->Network->Advanced->IP Settings.

    You should have:

    - IP Address (example 192.168.1.xxx)

    - Subnet mask (the net mask with example 255.255.255.0)

    - Gateway (the IP of your router with example 192.168.1.1)

    - DNS 1 (remote IP of your provider)

    - DNS 2 (remote IP of your provider)

    Static IP.

There are two types of IP addresses Dynamic and Static. An IP address is a numerical label assigned to each device connected to a computer network (Example: 192.168.0.10).

Default your Xbox has a Dynamic IP, which means your devices IP address can change to any random number. Usually when you reboot your modem/router. Static allows you to keep your IP address for that devices the same. This isn't
necessary to do, and only should be done if you know what your doing and why.

    Static IP?

    Greetings Dad Gamer!

I'm not sure if you are proposing Port Forwarding, which might be the reason for your question, or?

If you exclusively ask for what may benefit your console by making the IP settings on this device static, or fixed, then there are none. Especially if you use UPnP (Universal Plug and Play), which bind instances of port forwarding, making it automatic,
    instead of manually configured.

So, my question to you: Is there anything wrong with your consoles NAT behaviour, or is your console being frequently disconnected from Xbox Live?

    Please let us know.
