    Apparently my disc drive has stopped woking. I've had a problem with the drive not reading Forza Horizon 3. I keep getting the message questioning if I own the game. I've been playing it since it came out. Now my question is if I download a replacement,
    will I still have all the progress I've accomplished?

    I bought an Xbox 360 original console from a friend, but it has a modded disc drive (not HDD, NOT JTAG OR RGH). I cannot play on xbox live or connect to the internet, it just gives me an error message. Which means my console cant connect because it is modded.
    My a question is, will i be able to connect to live again if I replace the modded disc drive with a new unmodded disc drive?

    You may also like to try reformatting the external drive itself.

    If you need to reformat your external hard drive on the PC please follow the steps below to have the PC recognize the drive.

    1. On the PC go to the Start Menu and type Disk Management in the search bar then press enter. If any pop up come up just click Cancel

    2. Search for the drive on the list. It should have a red arrow next to it and say that it's not initialized

    3. Select Initialize in the pop up menu. Don't change any info on the next menu

    4. Right click on the drive and select New Simple Volume

    5. Click next on all screens until you see Finish. Click it

    From here you should have a notification that you've connected a new hard drive. You can now find it in the PC folder, right click on it and select Format. I would recommend unchecking the option for the fast format and let it do a full one.

    One final note. If you do not see an option to Initialize the disc right click on the drive and select Convert to MBR. Others have luck in selecting this option to have the disc be read by the console without reformatting it.

    Thank you for letting me know. In this case then I'm afraid the issue would lie with the console itself. If it's still under warranty then I'd recommend sending it in for repairs. You can set this up at https://account.microsoft.com/devices. Once set up and you've received your shipping label via email you can pack up the console. Please be sure to send only the console and nothing else as Xbox does not guarantee that extra items such as cables or controllers.

    If the console is no longer in warranty then you may want to check your local gaming store to see if they offer a repair service.

    I have reset the console before. And formatted the hard drive on both pc and a different Xbox to no avail.
