I'll let someone with transfer cable experience answer your first question. As for registering, do you mean registering your console serial number online? That should be just fine and shouldn't affect anything relating to your DRM licenses.

Games you purchase on your profile digitally can be used wherever you go. They are tied to your account.

 

It works like this: -

You can set any console as your "home" console. Anybody can play any of the content you've bought on that machine, online or offline, and your Live Gold is shared with anyone who plays on that machine. You can change which is your home console a limited
number of times per year (I think it's 3, but it might be 4 - I'm not 100% sure).

You can re-download your paid-for games (for free of course) on any other console, but you have to be signed into Xbox Live with the gamertag that bought them in order to play them.

As long as you're connected to Xbox Live, your game saves are automatically synced to the cloud, so no matter which console you play on, you'll have the latest version of your save there.

 

To be on the safe side keep track of which console you last played a game on. Sometimes the sync messes up and it will ask which console you last played on. Pick the wrong one and you may end up losing progress.

You can change you home console 3 times a year.

Sidenote - You can play your digital games on both your consoles at the same time, handy if you want to play with a buddy/family member that you have over.

This is exactly why I have two consoles and only buy digital games, works like a charm! I do mean exact, I have done this with Titanfall(and Battlefield, Destiny, COD Ghosts & Advance Warfare). Its great for games that don't have splitscreen or if you want
to play with more than 2 people in the same room(We need more 4 player splitscreen games!).
