2D games freezing on input

Recently, I've noticed that several 2D games I've tried to play have had some major input lag issues. Most are games I've played without issue on this laptop before. Any time I press a key on the keyboard or click the mouse, the game freezes for a few seconds, then continues. This length varies from less than a second (annoying but fairly playable) to more than 5 seconds (almost impossible to do anything). All are being launched through Steam, but Steam itself isn't the issue because there are other games working fine.

My Specs (Windows 10):
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-7700HQ CPU @ 2.80GHz 2.81 GHz
Installed RAM: 16.0 GB (15.9 GB usable)

Driver: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti

Affected Games:

Coffee Talk

Loop Hero

Undertale

Drawn: The Painted Tower

FTL: Faster Than Light

As a point of comparison, this laptop has been able to run games like Elden Ring with minimal issues, and there are 2D games running without issues like Monster Sanctuary.

I've tried checking the drivers for updates, rebooting the computer, clearing the memory, increasing the game priority, disconnecting any external controllers, disabling the Steam overlay, and launching the games from the exe files instead of through Steam. Nothing has made any kind of difference, and I'm thoroughly stumped. Does anybody have any ideas about what could be causing this and how to fix it?

There are no apparent issues here with any Xbox services on your device that could be causing this. We'll change this to an open community discussion and perhaps other folks may have some insight for you. We recommend also bringing up the discussion on Steam forums as well, since you may have a few more people respond there too.

I don't think Saber and Blanka have anything in common. MK is probably the only 2D fighting game that doesn't use SF inputs like charging directions or the ziz zag motion.

Shadow Complex is a 2d side scrolling game..... the entire game is played form a 2d side scrolling view. (edit. I know it is not actually 2d.. just describing how it is played in a 2d view point)

Update... I tried playing a 3D movie and like everyone else here, it's only playing in 2D. However, when I switch inputs on my TV to something else and then switch it back to the Xbox input, the 3D signal is picked up by my TV and the movie plays as it
should -- in 3D.

Thanks to everyone who provided helpful and positive input.

I also have a PS3 and some 3D blu-ray movies so it won't be soley for gaming.

And the model I ordered produces excellent 2d images so I'm happy.

I'll report back tomorrow with my thoughts.
