29 March 2017 killed my external storage!

I have 2 identically equipped Xbox One consoles. Each has a Collective Minds Media Hub equipped with a Samsung Seagate Momentus ST2000LM003 2TB 2.5" SATA Notebook Hard Drive. They have worked flawlessly since 16 May 2015, when they were installed. As of
29 March 2017, the date of the March Update, both consoles show no external storage. The drives still spin up with their consoles; just don't show up under storage management any longer, and the games therein are inaccessible.

So, Microsoft: what's the fix, and when can we expect it?

    Thanks.

    :)

External Storage Not Supported at Launch

Microsoft's Major Nelson has stated that initially the Xbox One won't support external storage. This means 500GB is the max HD which people will be able to have for the console. He also said it's going to happen in the future, but it's currently not a top priority.

    Hey bobcat,

Thanks for posting. Have you tried the steps outlined on our
Xbox One console doesn't detect external storage page
? Do similar issues occur if you try different USB ports? If those steps do not resolve, you may need to reformat your external hard drive. Since this happened on both external hard drives, let's only
try this on one for now. Keep in mind that these steps will fully erase your external drive:

    1. Plug external hard drive into your Windows PC.
    2. Press Windows key + X to pull up options and select 'Disk Management'.
    3. Locate your external HDD on the list and select 'Delete Volume'.
    4. Right click the 'Unallocated' space on your external hard drive and select 'New Simple Volume'.
    5. Follow the steps on the New Simple Volume Wizard and reformat your storage to NTFS.
    6. Once you've completed those steps, try the external storage on your Xbox One. You may need to navigate to 'System' settings from the Xbox One guide and format through the storage screen.

Please keep us posted on how it goes!

That solved the immediate issue; however, I would like to know what was in the update that would have whacked two distinct drives on two different consoles. Is there something I should know? I f this now happens with future updates, I will be one unhappy
    camper...

Right on, happy that helped out. I can't really speculate on what specifically may have caused the issue, however please keep us posted if similar issues come up in the future.

    Thank you for posting!

SOUTH PARK : the stick of truth (XBOX ONE)

For those interested, heres the transcript from a chat I had with a support person at Ubisoft about purchasing The Fractured But Whole through the U-play store:

Ethan M (9/29/2017, 10:33:15 AM): Thank you for contacting Ubisoft Live Support. Please give me a moment to review your case. In the meantime, feel free to add any additional information that may pertain to your issue, and I will be with you shortly.

Ethan M (9/29/2017, 10:35:12 AM): Hello, I can confirm that you will receive a product code for South Park: The Stick of Truth before the release date of The Fractured But Whole

Me (9/29/2017, 10:35:40 AM): Only if I purchase it through the U-Play store?

Me (9/29/2017, 10:36:50 AM): How is that product code delivered? and how do I download the game using that product code?

Ethan M (9/29/2017, 10:38:20 AM): I'm currently looking into that information. Please give me a few moments

Ethan M (9/29/2017, 10:41:09 AM): Okay I can confirm that you will receive an email containing the product code for Stick of Truth via email, after purchase

Me (9/29/2017, 10:41:47 AM): and how do I download the game with that code?

Ethan M (9/29/2017, 10:42:02 AM): You will activate it through the Uplay client

Me (9/29/2017, 10:42:19 AM): uplay client?

    Ethan M (9/29/2017, 10:42:33 AM): https://uplay.ubi.com/

    Ethan M (9/29/2017, 10:42:59 AM): Oh I'm sorry, I haven't had my coffee yet.

    Ethan M (9/29/2017, 10:43:07 AM): I just realised you're on XB1

Me (9/29/2017, 10:43:31 AM): Yes, this would be for xbox 1

    Ethan M (9/29/2017, 10:43:59 AM):
    http://support.xbox.com/en-US/billing/prepaid-codes/redeem-prepaid-codes

Me (9/29/2017, 10:48:33 AM): Okay. So to double confirm. If I purchase the physical disk (which appears to be the only option) of The Fractured But Whole through the U-play store , I will receive a prepaid download code at the time of purchase, to which
    I will be able to

download and play The Stick of Truth immediately upon purchase of The Fractured But Whole?

Me (9/29/2017, 10:48:59 AM): All on the Xbox One

Ethan M (9/29/2017, 10:49:13 AM): Yes, that is how it should work.

Ethan M (9/29/2017, 10:49:44 AM): I say should, because we are getting reports of XBOX One purchases of this product that aren't immediately receiving the product code for Stick of Truth

Me (9/29/2017, 10:50:27 AM): I hate to be that guy, but I need to know it absolutely will work this way. Otherwise I will be a very unhappy customer.

Ethan M (9/29/2017, 10:51:46 AM): Like I said, it should work exactly the way you described. That is the way it is intended to work. But a small portion of clients purchasing this for XB1 are not immediately receiving their product codes for Stick of Truth

Me (9/29/2017, 10:52:58 AM): Is that because it was purchased through a different retailer? Were these people that purchased The Fractured But Whole through the u-play store?

Me (9/29/2017, 10:53:52 AM): Currently, The Stick of Truth is unavailable for normal purchase or download through the Xbox One/ Microsoft Store, which is why my suspicions on this working the way I want it to being raised.

Ethan M (9/29/2017, 10:54:40 AM): Please wait a moment so I can see what information we have on that

    Me (9/29/2017, 10:58:49 AM):

Ethan M (9/29/2017, 11:01:46 AM): Okay, so it appears to be an issue on our store site. If you purchase the product through the Xbox store, you should not have any delay receiving the product code for Stick of Truth!

    Me (9/29/2017, 11:05:30 AM):

Ethan M (9/29/2017, 11:05:55 AM): If you have any other questions, don't hesitate to ask

Me (9/29/2017, 11:07:18 AM): Well, funny you mentioned that. I did preorder The Fractured But Whole through the Xbox One store, which is how I discovered that The Stick Of Truth, might not be immediately available after the purchase
    of The Fractured But Whole.

    Me (9/29/2017, 11:07:20 AM):
    https://forums.xbox.com/en-US/thread/30718A9C-9EDD-4023-A3EA-52A502B7571B

Me (9/29/2017, 11:07:32 AM): So youre now saying that the U-play store has the same issue?

    Me (9/29/2017, 11:08:36 AM): ???

Ethan M (9/29/2017, 11:10:52 AM): I have not heard of the issue occurring through the Xbox retailer, only through our own retailer. Information on the issue is scarce currently, but we're looking for more information!

Me (9/29/2017, 11:11:49 AM): Exactly why I figured to ask the manufacturer of both of these games directly. I think I'll just wait until the release date and then purchase the game. Thanks.
