250gb HDD is recognized and displays available space, but cannot access the stored information.

250gb HDD in a 360S. Yesterday it worked fine...which leads us to today. The system is very slow to start up, and initially displayed all of the profiles except my LIVE profile (now it displays them sometimes but sometimes none), but signed into none. I
tried to download my LIVE profile, but I got Error code 8007045D
    http://support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-360/xbox-live/error-code-8007045d
. When I go into system settings > storage, it shows the HDD and the remaining available space (80.3gb, which is correct), but when I attempt to access the info on the HDD, all lines are
    blank and display 0kb.

Is my HDD toast or are there any other steps that I can take to access the information? It seems like the system can at least partially read it (it can tell how much is still avail) and it can certainly recognize the presence if the HDD, but cannot access
    what is on it.

I turned the system off, cleaned out the dusty vents, removed the HDD and cleaned it and it's port out in case it was just a bad connection or something. Tried clearing the cache, which kinda seemed to work, but the progress bar never progressed, it just
went back to the previous screen after a couple minutes.

    Any advice?

    :)

  2. My 250GB Slim HDD is not recognized by my console.

My Halo 4 slim recently was destroyed by a neighbor. I took the 250GB HDD out and it appeared not to be damaged so I bought a replacement Halo 4 Slim console and inserted the 250GB HDD. But when I start up my Xbox, I'm prompted that an update is required. So,
when I select "YES" to download the update, I get a message that says I dont have enough space and that I need a HDD to download the update.

I've gone to System Settings, and Storage Device but it only displays "UNFORMATTED" for the listed HDD. However, it doesn't show any available space nor any HDD specs. It just says "UNFORMATTED" and "Microsoft".

When I try to format the HDD, I see a grey progression bar. But afterward, it still says "UNFORMATTED" and when I again try to download the update, I still keep getting the message that says that I dont have enough space and that the update cannot be downloaded.
It basically seems like my 250GB HDD is not being recognized by the console at all, like it's not even connected to my console or that it's damaged. It's not the console, because I've put my other 320GB HDD in it and it recognizes it immediately.

Is my 250 GB HDD shot or is there a way to get my console to recognize it again?

    Insufficient HD Capacity

There are 250GB drives available for original consoles.

Nothing says you cannot buy multiple HDDs and switch between them.

250gb HDD is recognized and displays available space, but cannot access the stored information.

Hi, it does look like there is some major corruption on the hard drive or it's just about to fail totally. As there is little to no chance of recovering the data on ghe hard drive it may just be a case of trying to format the hard drive. You do that on the
Xbox by going to settings/system/storage, highlight the hard drive and press Y on the controller.

You will see the format option, you may be asked for the Xbox serial number so have that to hand.

ox8082000d: External storage connection too weak

    Hi again,

I've power cycled the xbox and completed a soft reset.

The HDD is responding as normal and intended.

The SDD is recognized by only the right USB port when looking at the back, not the left. After being recognized for a few seconds, it disappears and cannot be accessed.

I tried swapping out for two separate cables, yet with both of these, the same error code is displayed.

As of now, it will not recognize the SDD at all, but the HDD is working properly.

    Game Patch History

You cannot manage your HDD . X1 auto manages the HDD. Everything is stored in the cloud. The only thing you can do is install/unisntall games and apps when the system recognizes that need space. The only way to manage your saves in games is via in game
    if support that function.

External hard drive not recognized by console

Have you tried connecting the HDD to your PC to see if it is recognized there? If your PC doesn't recognize it either then the interface or HDD electronics is possibly faulty.

It's unfortunate but HDD's almost always fail eventually. If you need to obtain a replacement HDD, at least you can still download all of your games again as long as they are still available on the MS Store and/or accessible via your purchase history.

    Good luck!
