230GB hard drive

    When i put it in my 230GB hard drive for my xbox 360 slim it gave me only 14GB

    How have I used 23GB already

    A 250GB drive when formatted is around 238GB. The 360 uses around 7GB for system use.

    This leaves you with about 230GB free before you put anything on the drive.

    Titanfall will take up 40gb!

    I got around 230gb of free space....No problemo....

    230GB hard drive

    There isn't a 230gb hard drive for the 360 so i'd say what you have isn't an official Microsoft hard drive.

    Where did you purchase the drive from? If you used an online source such as ebay or amazon then you may have gotten a cheap knockoff.

    It's also possible that if you did not use an official transfer kit to transfer data from an old drive to the new one that you would have cleared the drive making it only readable as an external storage device and not an official drive.

    Sorry but both of these issues are not covered by the Microsoft warranty.

    Thanks for the help Cerb i really appreciate it, i discovered what the problem is, today i brought my Xbox hard drive into work (I work in Gamestop) to test it out on our store console and i got the exact same problem, which means the fault is actually with
    my hard drive and not my console. It just came up saying my hard drive is unformatted, i was wondering if you ever heard or seen this problem before and if so, is there anything i can do to recover everything i have saved or is it lost for good? Im buying
    a new hard drive next week anyway so my main concern is all my data i had as i have just under 230gb worth of stuff saved on my faulty HD, thanks for your help
