Hi, since the consoles can be purchased in many shops and can remain in the warehouse for long period, Microsoft directly register the consoles when they sell it to the retailer.

Therefore the warranty will expire after 2 years from that moment even if you have bought it several months later.

Said that there is a way to correct the start of the warranty period, you will need to contact the xbox support with a valid proof of the purchase (a bill with the date is enough), with that they have the proof that the console is in your hands from that
day and can correct the date of the registration.

I know that the warranty start from the date of the purchase, but if you buy the console (or other accessories) from an external retailer and not directly from Microsoft you will probably see a registration date before the date of your purchase, this is
because after some time Microsoft automatically register the console even if it is still in a shop or in a warehouse.

When this happen the only way to have a correct registration date (and a real 2 year warranty) is to directly contact Xbox Support with a valid prof of the purchase.

Actually the warranty begins from the day you purchase it. Whether you get as a gift at a later date. The warranty always starts from date of purchase.
