Seeing this thread is still alive, I'll share a story about my brothers smart Blu-ray player. Worked fine for six months until after a update, then stopped reading his older D.V.D.s. After contacting the manufacturer about the problem, he was told the update
took away support for some D.V.D.s and there was no way to "go back"; after a fair amount of arguing they sent him a upgraded model. You might say they "Kill Switched" his Blu-ray player...

^ no they didn't, they stopped supporting a format through a firmware update, that is not the same as killing a piece of equipment dead through some secret in built mechanism....

    No fail ,re-read my post.

I went from electronic devices to electronic devices.

"My mobile phone like millions of analog and digital devices don't have kill switch".

You're the fail and you're far to be epic.

  5. Syre they don' Tzar.

I could go into much detail, but if ya haven't figured it out by now. You'll never figure it even if a University Professor were to lead ya by the hand.

  7. This is almost getting... funny? lol Geez. Look, the analogue "days of old" couldn't have had kill switches built in to most devices, per se, because they quite simply weren't complex enough to hide those kind of devices from a mechanically inclined, inquisitive
person. The kill switch itself would've been more complex than the device it went in.

Newer devices don't really fit into that category... at least not completely. Even the average mechanically inclined person of today, would need a lot more technical savvy to understand what everything in their machines do.

But just when it sounds like I'm going to jump into a deep, dark rabbit hole... I'm not. There is always a counter balance. Today's counter is youth. I'm 101% positive I'm not the first person to say this... if you want to know how your phone/tablet... whatever
device you choose... works, what it's capable of (including things not mentioned on the packaging and more), hand it to a teen ager for 10 minutes. Honestly, there are some truly brilliant young people out there who can do things with modern computers that
few would think possible. So really, if there were some deep, dark, cloak and dagger secret "kill switch" built into nearly every modern device then I'm sure the internet would be rife with finger pointers, more than eager to prove it.

Yet... where is our proof? In a court? lol Fact is, you have to have a case to begin with before you can take it there... so where are those, whom we all know exist, with the knowledge and skill to make a case, in court or out? I'm sure there are plenty
    who'd be willing... in fact...

Lizard Squad couldn't prove it... they had to resort to basic DDOS attacks that interrupted some services, including XBL. Same with Anonymous. I mean, as large as some of these groups are, you'd think that at least one of them would have a person or 2 that
had the knowledge and skills to both find and pull a "secret kill switch" on all kinds of networks and companies and wreak havoc on a large scale by shutting down entire power grids and communication networks, rather than just interrupting them.

I will, however, say that there are a few kill switches out there. A lot of vehicles have security systems with them that can kill the ignition if they're stolen... or can be used to kill the ignition if they're financed and payments stop coming in. I'm
sure there are other examples, but that one is (hopefully) commonly known, enough to thwart skepticism.

The bottom line is simple. The vast majority of modern devices have a myriad of different, adjustable features, including safety features that monitor all sorts of on board systems... and guess what... many of those safety features have the ability to auto
power down a device if it has a failure that could be dangerous to itself or its user. All a talented, clever and tech savvy individual would have to do is find a way through the software and exploit a feature that was designed for one purpose, in order to
    make it serve another.

Anyone see the news clip where a hacker found his way into a power company's systems and completely destroyed a generator by setting certain operating parameters so far out of range that it ripped itself apart? Is that a secret kill switch? Absolutely not.
Quite simply, it's a set of on board, adjustable operating features that can be accessed... altered... and exploited to serve that purpose. Now I'm sure there will be people who would reach for the panic button and start ranting about a conspiracy and a kill
    switch.

Personally, I think I'll be a little more sensible and be a bit more afraid by the fact that someone could get past an outdated security system and shut down a basic component of a power grid, before I start pointing my finger at a yet to be proven, intentionally
    implemented kill switch.

For a corporate/gobernment 'kill switch' to work. The 'consumers' unit MUST connect either wired or wirelessly, knowingly or unknowing to them.

    Case closed!

Don't see how this "case" (aka kill switch conspiracy theory) can't be closed.

You didn't gave one single argument or example.Don't worry my brain won't explode if you can go deeper and give more details.(but i don't think you can)

It's more like there was no case,at all.

  10. Tzar, just google. "Chinese back door into US Missle systems" and READ.

After doing so (like you ever will) ask yoursef. "Isn't this a type of kill switch?" - Unless you're having a. "Blond hair day" any rational thinker would have to say...

    "Yes."

I think this thread has strayed pretty far from the original topic.

OP if you continue to have issues with your console or accessories, it would be best to post in the
    Support
sections or contact support via phone or chat.

Yes Tzar, your examples are irrelivant. anolog technology of ages gone by, never connected wirelessly for updates, so your vcr or whatever could not be effected by a wireless 'kill switch.'

Also, proof is for Courts and not forums.

    Hey Electro.

You don't have to be too worried about your XBox grassing your details to the world.

The Wireless signals have a limited range and if you manage your home wireless properly your connection will be much more secure than say... taking your laptop to Starbucks, connecting to their Public WiFi and then doing your online banking. That's where
someone purposefully trying to steal your data may actually succeed.

Also there is no secret background sub-wireless pathway to steal your data away either. Even if XBox LIVE support told you there was. Access points are exactly that. Access points and without the access points you don't have... well... access.
