Let me give you step by step instructions.

Let's say you have User1 playing on Console1, and User2 playing on Console2.

User1 has an active Gold membership.

First, User1 downloads their account to Console2, the other user's console. User1, while signed in on Console2 goes to the settings, and under "Personalization" sets Console2 as their "Home Console".

Be aware that changing the Home Console setting is limited to 5 console changes per User during 365 days. So don't sign User1 on to multiple consoles and change the Home Console setting for User1 if not absolutely neccessary (e.g. Console2 breaks or gets
permanently replaced with a new console!)

After User1 set Console2 as their Home Console, they are now sharing their digital download games and Gold membership to that console. That means that ANYONE (including User2) can play on Console2, and they can benefit from User1's Gold membership and Game
purchases.

In case User2 has games that User1 should be able to play, User2 has to sign in on Console1 and make this their "Home Console".

After that, User1 signs into his account on Console1, and User2 signs in on Console2. And both can now play each other's games and play online Multiplayer.

Be aware, that User1 now HAS TO BE ONLINE on non-Home Consoles (i.e. his Console1 and every other console that is not Console2 and vice versa).

You make the account with gold the other person home with the Xbox with no gold on it

Account with gold add it to xbox without a gold account make gold account home on that xbox pretty much it they get games and gold on both accounts afterwards

I have seen this asked plenty of times but everyone steps around the question.

How do 2 people on 2 xboxes play simultaneously in the same household under the same Gold subscription?

Its easy one profile which has the gold membership makes .console 2 can be home console.and ALL Profiles on that console.can use that subscription

Console 1 that isnt home console the profile.with gold.can and only that profile.can use the single subscriprion UNLESS another profile has gold makes console 1 a home.console

Unless you mean how do I share a gold subscription accross family meaning more then 2 consoles

This can be done by correctly configuring your
Home Xbox under the Personalization option in your Settings.

This will, in turn, allow you to not only
share any Xbox related subscriptions you have under your account, but digital games that you have purchased.

This can be done by following these simple steps:

1. Press the Xbox button to open the guide.
2. Select System > Settings > General >
   Personalization, and then select My home Xbox.
3. Do either of the following:
   • Select Make this my home Xbox to designate the console as your home Xbox.
     
   • Select Remove this as my home Xbox to remove the designation.
